Receive a cow in the mail

Big thanks to Todd!

I received a surprise package in my mail today from Flirt. Inside was a cow that was helping prevent drug residues in dairy animals. It had a package of snickerdoodles with it so that it didn’t get hungry during the trip. It was nice enough and shared some of the crumbs with me.

I feel bad for the cow though because it obviously has mutated from the drug residues. It only has three teats, and it’s bones are all rubbery.

Bighextex sent me a photo of her pet cow.

I received 16 cows in the mail today from ScrpbkShannon! Not only that, but I also received a cool hand-made card to go along with them. I was amazed at the beauty not only of the cows, but the envelope and card that came with them. Shannon definitely has at least one artistic bone in her body.

I received the absolutely best cow in the mail from YRush and her son. I’ve never seen one with such amazing nostrils. Words cannot describe how cool this cow is. I’ve got to get a picture of it so that I can share its beauty with all of you here at 43Things.

So I received a cow on Saturday, but it was delivered in person, not through the mail. I wanted to share the cow with all of you because it was so thoughtful of JudithKD to bring me a cow from her own living room to add to my collection.

The one from Judith is the front one on the left. The other cows (along with the cat and the geese) are gifts from my parents or grandparents. This is just a small sample of my cow collection.

One other cow of note in this picture is the brown creamer visible in the middle. This belonged to my grandmother’s grandmother. When my grandmother was young, she had a conversation with her grandparents about how she would like that creamer someday. Her grandfather told her to take it then to ensure that she got it. So a few years ago my grandparents were discussing who should get what when they passed, and I had indicated I would like that cow. For Christmas that year, I received it wrapped up as a gift. It is one of the most meaningful gifts I’ve ever received.
