I’m also very fair, with plenty of moles, freckles, skin tags, etc. I had some removed maybe 4 years ago, at which time I also had a basal-cell skin cancer removed (at age 41! and I’m no sun-worshipper…).
The skin tags they froze off disappeared without a trace; there were (mostly) small scars left from the moles I had removed. Some I had removed for vanity, some were potentially suspicious (but benign). So—on my face anyway, the flat moles are preferable to the red scars. Some pop-up moles I’m glad to have gone, and don’t care about the scars. Some moles have partially grown back! (Persistent li’l buggers.) The skin cancer did not look like a mole; it was a bumpy red patch on my shoulder that didn’t go away after several months. I’m glad I had it cut out, but the scar is considerable, though still fading after all this time.
So, my advice? Take it slow (on a mole-by-mole basis), see whether your skin scars easily—and if you’re mole-y, get your skin checked every year!!
