I played Typing of the Dead in dvorak in an attempt to up my accuracy and speed but it wasn’t that successful… but I didn’t have the layout in front of me, either. I’m going to print it out and paste it up near the monitor so I can look at it and develop my muscle memory better (I have a terribly time with g, d, f, y, p…. any keys using the pointer fingers).

I’m already familiar with the layout, I’m just not very fast right now. When I had Windows it was very easy to switch between the two layouts and I’d often just go to qwerty when I had to type up something big or talk on messenger, which I’m sure slowed my growth in dvorak. Now that I’m using Ubuntu I’m going to keep it on dvorak and hope that my typing speed gets better as a result.
I guess this is the same thing as learning to type on DSK, because I’ve completely forgotten how to type in QWERTY… and I’m not regretting it. I used to type at 45 wpm in QWERTY, but I got to 83 wpm in 60 or so days, using Dvorak. I rarely get any typos, or so it seems, because I backspace almost immediately after making a mistake. Now, I type at over 90 wpm, but that’s not relative because I have not been practicing.
