Take my time..... it isnt going anywhere 23 months ago

My job requires me to run around alot… I thought this would be a good fit because I have been running in circles my entire life. Somewhere..sometime during childhood I picked up this ridiculous habit of hurrying, being anxious, frazzled which leads to aggrevation and clumsiness. for about a week now I am trying to make a concious effort to just slow down… its not going anywhere. The extra 5 seconds wont make a difference if anything it may allow me to do more.. a quick yet relaxed pace is what I am going for now. Its a step.

Mister Roger's song 2 years ago

I like to take my time
I mean that when I want to do a thing
I like to take my time to do it right!

I mean I might just make mistakes
If I should have to hurry up and
So I like to take my time
To tie my shoes, to eat, to get dressed,
To go to sleep at night to sings a song for you
    And every thing I do.

I like to take my time
I mean that when I want to do a thing
I like to take my time to do it right.

I mean I might just make mistakes if
I should have to hurry up and
So I like to take my time.

    (Amen)

What an amazing difference this makes 2 years ago

A good way to show love to yourself is to take your time. Whether it is a decision, thinking about a response, work, writing, anything… there really is a time to take. Emergencies come and go, but the bulk of our lives is waiting. Waiting for clarity from the self is a gift.

    Saturday 3 years ago

Saturday is such a great time to take my time. When I was a pastry chef I had to work each and every Saturday, so now that I am not, each and every Saturday is a sweet long day for ME. It is 10:27, and I have bills to pay, breakfast to eat, and homecoming at WWC to attend, but they all can wait. I want to take my time writing this 43 Things entry about taking my time. Okay, now I can eat my pumpkin muffin.

    Have you ever watched kids
    on a merry-go-round
    Or listened to the rain
    slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

    You better slow down
    Don’t dance so fast
    Time is short
    The music won’t last

Do you run through each day on the fly
When you ask “How are you?”
    do you hear the reply?

    When the day is done,
do you lie in your bed
    With the next hundred chores
    running through your head?

    You’d better slow down
    Don’t dance so fast
    Time is short
    The music won’t last

    Ever told your child,
    We’ll do it tomorrow
And in your haste, not see his sorrow?

    Ever lost touch,
    Let a good friendship die
    ‘Cause you never had time
    to call and say “Hi”?

    You’d better slow down
    Don’t dance so fast
    Time is short
    The music won’t last

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.

When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift….
    Thrown away…

    Life is not a race.
    Do take it slower
    Hear the music
    Before the song is over.

what a lesson.. 4 years ago

my brother had to talk some sense into me to make me remember how badly i want to do this… because if i keep rushing, not only do i forget where i’m going, but i also lose people i care about.. just slow down… don’t go so fast.. because if i keep doing that i will just miss the little things in life that make it so wonderful to live… i have forgotten to look at the little things.. i am always seeking for the next “big” thing.. but if i don’t even notice the small things, how can i appreciate the grand?.. thanks bro!
