I want to get an apartment and cook from this place. I was there in February, and if it is fresh then, it must be outstanding in the spring an summer.

You can spend quite a few years in Seattle and not know all the wonders of the Pike Place Market. But you’ll have a blast exploring and learning and sampling.
DO EET!
I visited the Marketplace. Great place!!!! The flowers, the food, the arts, the people… I had my first Starbucks coffee in the shop across the street. This was before Starbucks went national. Just outside the Market there was a group singing – The King Jesus Disciples . While I am not a hugely religious sort, I am a big a capella fan. These guys are good. I bought a tape and threw some money in the tip jar. However I can’t seem to find out anything about them. Do they still sing?
When I first got to Seattle in ‘03, I would take the bus down to Pike Place every weekend and just search through all the amazing treasures!
I have probably been there a hundred times but each time I find something new. I love it all! Especially that little Ethopian restaurant on the street. Delicious!
When I get back I hope to do it all over again!!
Every Thursday I volunteer at a non-profit woodshop called The Giving Tree (http://givingtreetoys.org/index.php). I love being a vender in the market. At the woodshop, which is located half a mile to the NE of the Market, the quality toys are constructed out of donated wood and painted with non-toxic paint. The toy makers include seniors, formerly and currently homeless individuals, and youth and adults from the area. The whole operation brings a sense of purpose to everyone who gets involved. And we donate 10-15% (or more, if we have a good year) of our profits to children in need in the area. We are always looking for more volunteers, or people to support our shop.
Laurel Fan I am fixing some javascript
I stopped by the market for the first time in a few months (which is ridiculous considering I work about 8 blocks from it). Had a lunch meeting at Pan Africa, which was wonderful. Really friendly people working there, fragrant and tasty food. On the way back to work, I picked up a big bag of oranges from Stilnovich
I can’t wait until later in the spring when the weather will be nice enough to convince my co-workers to go with me and there will be more local produce (strawberries.. peas.. asparagus..).
and I grew up in a johnny-jump-up behind her table… the market is where I first learned to pick out good salmon, and how to peel a shrimp. Did time in the daycare, snuck around the back corners as a teenager, all that good stuff. This is my home turf.
I give a ghost tour of the Market, lived there for many years and work there on the weekends on the craftline..also am the Secretary for the Market Constituency…love it!!!
