    Guided Meditation 3 months ago

Well, the last couple of weeks I’ve led some guided meditations for other people, but I haven’t done too much on my own.

I need to work on this. I think I’d feel better :)

    Balance 4 months ago

I did a short meditation today and it made me feel a little more grounded.

A couple weeks ago I created a “balance” oil by combining peppermint (active) and lavender (calm) oils into a base oil. I’m trying out this aromatherapy to see if my body will recognize my own personal association with the combination.

Today I anointed a candle with the oil, making sure to get enough on top that I would smell it as it burned, I called upon Hecate (Greek Goddess of the crossroads, she’s actually a pretty good adviser in mythology) and sat down to get some guidance and balance in my chaotic world.

The very first thought that popped in my head was that my breathing was forced…it was, I was having trouble relaxing. Once I got hold of that my next thought surprised me. I wasn’t thinking about how to rearrange all of my life tasks to make a nice neat little balanced world; I thought about the elements and their spiritual associations. I realized that right now in life I am not grounded (earth), I have lost focus of my passions (fire), my life is moving pretty bumpy and riding the extremes (water) and my creativity and inspiration are leaving me without a spark (air).

What I need to do is recognize that my life is in balance, but I’m fighting the natural flow which is causing the bumps and bruises along the way. Just as one must experience “bad” to understand “good” I need to realize that my life cannot be one big high of productivity and energy, I do need my down time, and my body/life actually fits this in just nicely. I’m taking the downtime as a rut (which it isn’t in this case) and trying to unnaturally jump back to the high. I’m doing so without focus so it’s causing me to stumble, where if I would just sit back and focus during my down time, I’ll be all the more ready to jump back in the game when my body says it’s time.

I know this is a lot of metaphorical rambling for the most part, but it’s my way of understanding where I need to be in life. Learning to run within what we’re given is the hardest part, learning to stop fighting what we don’t need to fight can sometimes make for an easier life!

    Spiritual Mentoring 4 months ago

I am a spiritual mentor for some local people in my area. I think for the next 4 sessions we’re going to do some guided meditations on the 4 elements. I have some meditations that were given to me, but I think I might write some of my own and see how I do.

Within the past year I’ve figured out how to snap into a meditative focus with a moments notice. This has helped me greatly, I just need to use this talent more often. I’ve been getting a bit more stressed lately, so I think I need to take some extra spiritual time for myself. I’m no good as a spiritual mentor if I can’t manage my own spirit :)

I joined a group of Mediators (the Inter Dependence project). This should get me on a regular schedule.

Have just started my morning meditation practice.

Also I recently purchased Insight Meditation – 12 month correspondence course. 24 CDs and Book. I find to really help me with my practice.

I’ve actually never successfully meditated. I can’t stop thinking about everything…mainly one thing. A much as I try, it’s impossible. If I meditate more often, I think I’ll be able to do this, though. It will be so calming, I think. :) So hopefully soon I’ll kick the meditating up a notch.
