initiate conversation with strangers

This is really fun! You get to meet new people, and you never know what they are interested in, or what they are going to say. So there’s pretty much always something interesting to talk about, and relate about. Most people are really friendly…

i like doing this. some people arent very friendly but you have to think of it was their loss. im a studnet so i practice this with people around me in my uni or student halls. i basically talk to everyone. when im at home i dont do it so often but i find if i make the effort i sometimes meet nice people.

I have and still do it!!! It is soo cool to learn about a person the first few seconds you talk to them. Some people arent friendly to start convo with but you have to meet them in order to find the people who are friendly to talk with. I like learning about people, so far I have met many people by initiating convo, and it’s like a game to me, very fun. You guess about the person before you meet them, and then you find out about the person by initiating the conversation. Very fun, and you might have a good few laughs meeting the person, or might meet a new friend.

I was stalling people on their way to the restrooms in a bar. I was saying to them : Hey, I’m Terry, you are…? They were puzzled. Most people answered kindly passing by me to attain their goal, most smiled on their way back, some even exchanged small talk. I had 2 or 3 good conversations that evening with complete strangers.

I even met my now-grilfriend’s then-guy-she-was-kinda-going-out-with by coincidence. I simply asked the nearest guy (him) to come with me to cheer a guy who seemed to be crying on a table in the bar. Turned out the guy was simply drunk and almost sleeping. My now-girlfriend-but-then-just-friend afterwards introduced me to him, thinking I already knew who he was. Well, she was panicked, we were kinda flirting and she was afraid of what I would say to this guy…

This is something I am always doing…...incessantly actually which is so ironic because by nature I am such an introvert. However, I’m an introvert with extrovert tendancies…....apparently they are extreme tendancies.LOL
My best friend from childhood is an extrovert and I remember about 15 years ago she came to Connecticut to visit me and we went to the movies and I was starting conversations with anybody that struck my fancy and they were responding as if we were long time friends. Finally as we walked into the theatre she leaned down and whispered in my ear…”...are you friends with ALL of those people?”
and I just laughed and said, “no….I’ve never met any of them before.”
I will never forget the look on her face….

Having a monkey on my hand makes it easy to talk to strangers. I think I do it nearly every day. Now most of them aren’t strangers anymore.
