First steps  — 1 month ago

I’ve jumped, and accepted a part time position. It’s a return to teaching, which I missed dearly in my soon-to-be-old position. Although, living on less will be difficult at first, 4 days a week will allow me to breathe a little more, continue studying and stress less.

Everyone else is working...  — 2 months ago

    Not worth it!

The trouble I found with working less is you start to feel out of the loop. I’ve been working less for 6 months and I feel out of the loop.. I want back in the loop.

So now I’m going to change my goal for the next 6 months and work really hard and i’ll see how that goes.

This is sad  — 2 months ago

Since I set this intention, I have actually been asked to work one more day per week. I guess the success is that I’ve been able to defer it. I am learning how to live on less, in preparation for my eventual leaving. I’m also aware that the goal could/should be re-titled “Work less at a job I don’t love”

Donya loving not having to work!

Live More!  — 3 months ago

No more believing in the idea that we need to work to survive. I am fully trusting universe to place me in an area of my life where I can live and breathe and not function from a fear based reality and actually enjoy my life!

I love working in child proctection but I work too much. I need to learn how to let work stay at the office and not bring it home with me. I sometimes have dreams about work, my clients, their issues, and so on. I need help in learning how to keep my life separate from my work life. Any suggestions??

I’m not a work-a-holic, I just want to make life easier on my bosses so I work 4-5 shifts while trying to go to school and graduate…I don’t say no to shifts because then I feel like i’m dissapointing people. But I have very little time for myself, and my friends..

How to do this?  — 7 months ago

This is a goal I really struggle with. I work in the events/hospitality industry and our pace of work is mind-numbing sometimes. I try to walk away from it and not think about it when I’m off but it is extremely difficult. How do you balance servicing the client to an exceptional level so they have a terrific experience in the place I work and in the city for which I work with being able to have a real life with time for fun and interaction and doing the things I love? The issue always comes down to time and urgency. An event has to happen on the day/s it is scheduled to happen no matter what. It is sort of like working for health care in the sense that events happen at times when other people are generally at work – nights & weekends. And it is a 7 day a week, 10 – 15 hr a day business (and for hotels it is 24/7). There are never enough workers to really do the job well, or enough resources, and one ends up feeling terribly expendable and a commodity instead of a valued member of a customer service organization.

Anyone who has any insights, I welcome them!
