Hey, this is great! I don’t have my permanant schedule yet, but I have great stretches off – anywhere from two to six days off between working stretches. I am working fewer hours per week and making more money…so bringing home about the same as I was before. AND I am doing what I was meant to do.

For almost one year I work 30 hours per week.
It’s totally worth it in every aspect!

I am going back to nursing full time. Jumping out of the frying pan into the fire and joining the emergency department. Yikes! It will be a better schedule fore me, and will allow blocks of time off. Hope this is the right thing to do.

i can’t get a day off since there isn’t anyone who can cover for me.
It’ll still be a while before I can trust the new guy to run things by himself, but hopefully I’ll get some time off soon!!
At least my job isn’t that bad, I do 4 hours of work and can spend the rest of the time pretty much however I want, (some exceptions obviously)
But I am starting to feel a little burned out. They usually have 2 or 3 people doing what I do

This is great! Besides a few slip ups when it was really necessary, I’ve been really good at sticking to this goal.
I had my first training session for soccer yesterday. It made me remember how many I missed last year because I was at work. Not this year!
Actually, I spent about a couple of hours either side of work helping one of my dad’s friends. He was having trouble learning how to use his security camera software. I helped him with absolutely no expectation of compensation and I have to say – it’s a great feeling. In the grand scheme of things it’s really not a big deal, but it’s nice to look back at your day and think “hey, I did something to make someone else’s life a little easier simply BECAUSE I COULD”. Time to make a new goal!

For the next couple of weeks I will read, write, eat, talk on the phone, walk around, or just chill instead of working through my lunches and breaks.

I’ve never had New Year Resolutions but I figured I may as well jump on the bandwagon.
I start back at work tomorrow and am planning on not going in early, not staying back late and not doing work at home unless it is COMPLETELY necessary – and if I do I’ll put it on my time sheet as the first thing I did the next morning and take it easy for however long I spent the night before. Sounds like a plan.
OK, so now the serious side of the goal.
How do I measure success?
I get paid for being at work from 8:30 to 5:30 with an hour lunch break.
I will have successfully “worked less” if I’m at work no earlier than 8:15 and out by 5:45. I’m pretty good with lunch breaks so no worries there.
I’ll log my times in and out for the next two weeks. If I’ve “worked less” 90% of the time I’ll do something exceptional for Australia Day. I’ll have to think about what that will be…..

This week I accidentally applied for a part-time position in another department of the hospital. While updating my online career profile in relation to a particular job opening, I clicked “Save as a Draft” rather than “Submit” because I wanted to think about the opportunity for awhile. But by the next morning Human Resources sent notice that they had received and were reviewing my application. I likely would not have intentionally applied for the job, so maybe the computer fluke will turn out to be a blessing in disguise. I guess we’ll see.
