This is one of those things, I get home from work and at some point I think I should get this done tonight and then all of a sudden it seems like it’s 10:30 or 11:00 and I’m getting ready for bed.
Last night I fell asleep trying to finish reading this book I want to get done and then I slept in later than I wanted to this morning. I think I need to start getting up when my alarm goes off no matter what.
I’ll try this again tonight. I want to buy some cigars for Christmas gifts and having this Humidor will give me a good place to keep them until December. I’m hoping if I can start getting Christmas cards and gifts ready this Summer and Fall I won’t have to worry about spending money on that in the Winter. It seems every year we end up having to buy Christmas gifts and fill our heating oil tank at the same time.
We just had the oil tank filled yesterday and it cost $715. It’s going to be an expensive winter this year.

Ok I really need to work on this one I keep seeing the pieces sitting on the floor and today is a good snowy day. I’ll see if I can do it after my daughter goes to sleep.

I’ve been taking apart a bunch of cigar boxes to use for building the inside of the humidor. Some of the cigar box covers have big labels on them and it’s becoming tedious to remove them all, but it’s definitely cheaper than buying Spanish cedar. It’s probably more ecological too, why not use wood that has already been cut from trees?

These goals all tie together somehow. I’m trying to sell things on ebay just to redce the amout of stuff around the house that isn’t being used (clutter). The humidor I’m using right now doens’t really work well so I plan on selling it on ebay to get a few dollars and get rid of it. In the meantime where do I put the cigars that are in there? I’m thinking about using an air tight food container I found that hasn’t been used in a long time.
This will give me some extra incentive to finaly finish building these ammo can humidors. Also I have a small bookshelf I plan on putting on top of my now spacious breau top. Once I fill that with all the boos I want I plan to sell all the other books that won’t fit. I can always go to the library if I want a book, or buy it and then sell it later.

I got some more old cigar boxes yesterday so I can begin to make these humidors. The problem is the wood from the cigar boxes is not as long as the ammo boxes. I think I am going to just have to make sections somehow. It’s time consuming to disassemble the cigar boxes and remove the labels, but it’s cheaper than buying Spanish cedar and it it works, why not?

A lot of these goals require money so they are on hold until I can find some of that.

I found a place to buy the wood I need for building the interior box. I emailed them just to make sure this is what i”m looking for, but it sounds good. I just need to figure out how much wood I will need to finish both humidors.

I have two cans that I got from an army surplus store. I’ve cleaned them both up and re-painted them after removing some rust and some military lettering. Because they are air-tight they make good humidors. They’re also fairly indestructible. Now I just need to line them with spanish cedar. I was going to buy some, but I found a liquor store where I can buy old cigar boxes so I’m thinking of just using the cedar from those. I can get them much cheaper than I can get new wood.
