So, grades came in for fall quarter a couple days ago. They dropped just a little bit from what they usually are, but on the other hand I was taking a completely full course load, 18 credits.
This quarter I got two A’s, an A- and a B+. This made my cumulative gpa drop .03, from 3.84 to 3.81. Well, okay I know that I really shouldn’t be worrying about this but it makes me really unhappy. Last quarter was ridiculously hard. Every day I had classes straight, without so much as a lunch break or anything, from 10:30AM until 2:40PM.
Last spring quarter I was able to pull straight A’s and I hope to do it again. Usually though I get just one B+ because, well, I’m not perfect :P and I’m not the kind of insane person who studies for hours on end.
I’m just so frustrated with myself because I know I could have done better this quarter, I could have bumped that B+ to an A if I had just done a little more work and spent a little more time on it.
Next quarter I’m taking 18 credits but that’s kind of deceptive. I calculated it and I’m actually taking about 21 or 22 hours of class a week next quarter.
I’m taking Geology which is a 6 credit lab science and 1 hour a day 3 days a week, 2 hours a day 2 days a week; French V, 1 hour a day 5 days a week; Concert Choir, 1 hour a day 5 days a week, even though it’s only 2 credits; and Writing Fiction, a bit over 2 hours a day 2 days a week. It’s a really complicated schedule and I know I’m going to die.
The only reason I’m taking 18 credits AGAIN despite how ridiculously hard it was last quarter is because I made sure my schedule had breaks. Every day I have a break for lunch, and 3 days a week I have an open hour before French which I can use to study. Actually I’m reasonably sure that’s the only reason my grade in french dropped from straight A’s last year to A- this year; last year I always had a free hour that I used to study French because it’s the most memorization/study intensive class I’ve been taking.
So yes, next quarter I will apply myself and aim for those straight A’s!!
