praying as a start 16 months ago

My girls are still pretty young, 23 months and 3 months. Since my older one can speak and understand things, we’ve taught her to pray before meals. I want this to be more than going through with the motions. Ultimately, I want our girls to live their lives as stewards of God. We are not just living for ourselves. My older one now knows how to say “go to church,” “pray,” and some other stuff.

what my daughter did the other day... 2 years ago

First of all you have to know she is extremely shy. It’s hard for her to talk with people she doesn’t know and she can be very quiet. So the other night she was at this girls group she goes to at our church, it’s kind of like Brownies – anyway they asked if anyone needed prayers for anything, and she raised her hand and asked them to pray about my back surgery this Monday. When she told me this I couldn’t believe it! It’s a large group of girls and that she took that risk is huge… and it makes me so happy that she asked them to pray for me. Wow. She also is so proud of herself for memorizing the song that names all the New Testament books. I really see her growing in the Lord and it makes me so happy!

by being a good living example 2 years ago

I really want our children to love the Lord. I think the best way to begin is for us to be good living examples.

I don’t even know what to say about this one, it’s probably the most joyful and most scary goal I have both at the same time. This is the thing in my life that I just can’t mess up on (raising my kids) and it is so frightening. But I know if they have God in their lives, then nothing I or anyone else can do can take that away and I never have to worry because they are in His hands.
