Shazamela is a teacher who has an Amazon Wishlist of books for her students. Many of these students come from homes where they don’t have books or money to buy books. These books have been chosen specifically for her students by Shazamela as being age and content appropriate. Her goal is that each of her students have a book by the end of the year.
There’s only seven books left to purchase on the wishlist after the three I bought today. For the price of one donation to Kiva.Org, you can buy three books for Shazamela’s students and qualify for free shipping.
The books I bought were:
Flush by Carl Hiaasen
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
and Bucking The Sarge by Christopher Paul Curtis
Just ordered Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. A great goal – you can find out more here .
Xiubami is getting ready to do the 2010 budget
1 The House of the Scorpion (one of my favorite books her
Sea of Trolls is great, also.)
1 Jesse
Hope the kids enjoy. They should get there by the 27th.
Gypsy is happy
Shazamela will be receiving a copy of Tears of a Tiger on approximately March 28! (apparently!)
What a fabulous goal!!
Our fantastic fellow 43ter Shazamela teaches in a school where many of her students come from very challenging family situations, most do not own a book of their own. She has set up a wishlist on Amazon.com of books that would be appropriate for her students, you can purchase one (or more) and they will be sent to her to be handed out to her students.
You can read the post which started this goal here http://www.43things.com/entries/view/1797424
This is the link to that wishlist on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/registry.html/104-3837935-8067114?ie=UTF8&type=wishlist&id=3OSD41PQ1729E
Let’s put a book in the hand of each of these students before the end of the school year, you never know what a difference it could make in their lives.
