Looks like all the medival pictures of itself—its very touristy, but the architechture was there LONG before the tourists were—you hafta, hafta, HAFTA see it, so beautiful—look at each building, so many artifices and domes and buctresses. . . . .

Venice is a world unto itself – really amazing. Florence is great, but Venice really has to be experienced.

Some time ago I had to make a choice: visit either Florence OR Venice. No matter what, I couldn’t see both (long story). In choosing Florence, I had a magnificent time. I was largely due , time spent with friends sneaking into an olive orchard for a picnic, seeing fireflies, and soaking in the beauty of the region rather than the novelty of being in Florence. Venice on the other hand, is such a fascinating city and I need to see it someday before it sinks.
