have a good week

Paco met me for breakfast today. We dropped Max off at Speech Therapy and had almost 2 hours before we needed to be back and pick him up. It was nice to chat over breakfast and make a few plans for the summer. Tomorrow is payday and I saw Martha Beck has a new book “Steering by Starlight” that sounds interesting. I really liked her book “Finding Your North Star” so tomorrow’s treat is getting “Steering by Starlight”!

Actually slept six hours last night. Friday night Max woke up coughing at 4am and couldn’t go back to sleep. Got some homeopathic cough remedy which seems to be working well! Not really a “treat” as such but I spent a half hour untangling a slinky. It was mindless and relaxing in a strange way. I did stop at Barnes & Noble on Friday on my way home; I love bookstores. Small splurge on some Assams from Upton Tea online. Yum!

Max was still really sick. I didn’t do the dishes (Paco did them) or the laundry. Took a really hot bath and watched part of Pirates of the Caribbean 3 At World’s End before going to sleep; brain candy.

do at least one thing every day just for myself. This week has been difficult. I worked on Sunday until 3am (big release). I made a careless error (tired) which has taken my mentor the past 48 hours to fix. I slept about 2 hours on Sunday then Monday there were things with the release that had everyone busy all day. Paco got stuck at a job Monday and asked me to pick Max up. My mentor (and boss) said that was fine (I don’t know how to thank him for everything) and when I got Max from school his eye was nasty looking and he was coughing. When we got home I got Max a snack and something to do then logged on and worked from home for three hours. We got into bed on time last night but Max woke up sick in the night. I kept Max home from school today – he was still coughing and I wanted to be sure his eye got cleaned out frequently. I stayed home from work to take care of Max – and took a nap this afternoon when Paco got home. Max is much, much better just now so I’m hoping for a normal night! It’s also a funky time of the month for me which doesn’t help my coping skills. Looking back I feel like I’ve stretched myself thin trying to accomplish too much. So for the next seven days I will give myself a break or a treat every day; a break from something I feel I “should” do – and/or a treat like going out to tea.
