I’ve been thinking about teaching English in either Indonesia or Japan, I’m leaning more towards Indonesia, the pay isn’t all that great but living expenses are very cheap.

I’m learning Mandarin now and Indonesian was a breeze compared to this!....
The hardest thing bout learning indo is learning all the slang… well, in Jakarta, anyway… I spent two years learning indo from coursebooks before I moved over there and everyone laughed at my indo when i got there! I asked why they were laughing and was told, ‘you sound like a newspaper’.... big difference between colloqial and formal language….
But you just keep practising and pick it up aftr a while.. ahve fun with it!

Just got home from my Semester 2 exam. I think I did pretty well, even if they did throw in a question that i just totally blew (You are conducting an interview with a farmer and his wife about their daily routine- 150 words)
I couldn’t remember anything relevant to farm life so I wrote 150 words of really boring questions and answers such as “Do you have a car? What colour is it? Do you have children? What school do they go to?”. Nothing relevant to farm life at all!! Hopefully I will get a couple of pity marks for that section!
I reckon I blitzed all the other questions, particularly the narrative where you are a tour guide showing people around your home town.
A couple of weeks wait for results now!!
