Jet is going to get back into 43T, promise!

All finished! 2 years ago

Now we have to wait for the results which is probably going to be a couple of months.

My daughter has one more exam but it’s not an SAT – it is a Specialist Drama exam with LAMDA – she takes one exam a year which we have to pay for. It’s a shame because I think she might want to drop drama as a subject although she did choose it for one of her Options to continue with next year. Hopefully she’ll keep it up.

She's finished 2 years ago

her SATs, my son still has two more. I’m guessing she did quite well, although I know she ran out of time in one exam and missed a question or two on another. At my son’s school I have been going in to read the test papers to one of the less able pupils, in a room separate from my son as he needs no help.

The good thing is I get to see the paper questions first hand, and it looks to me like my son will get top marks in Science. He had English on Tuesday and Wednesday which I didn’t get to see cos it’s only the Science and maths they get to have help with so I didn’t get to see what the english paper was like.

I am going in again today to do the first Maths paper with the girl who I’ve been assigned. She said Maths is her favourite subject so I have my fingers crossed for her! She wasn’t too hot on the Science and it was frustrating not to be able to give her help with the answers. I won’t be around to see the second paper because I have my own weekly class to go to and we are doing revision at the moment.

halfway through my daughter's SATs 2 years ago

Tuesday she had two science exams, Wednesday she had three Maths and today she has her exam on The Tempest. Tomorrow it’s English and I’m not sure what on Friday, possibly something for her Specialist Drama Exam that she’s got next week.

My son was given a certificate for consistently hard work during SATs revision last week. His exams start on the 14th – next Monday.

I'm feeling the pressure 2 years ago

I just made this a new ‘challenge’ to keep it of top importance.
My daughter is feeling the pressure and I am in turn. I’m being very relaxed about it, not nagging her but gently reminding her about revision if she seems to not be doing much. She’s done a lot this weekend since her SATs start on Tuesday 8th.

Today I let her have a friend round who wanted to borrow my daughter’s revision book for The Tempest – it wasn’t going to happen so daughter said she can read it round our house while she herself studies Maths.

A 14 year old and an 11 year old 2 years ago

Both my kids are coming up for their SATs, Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 2 respectively. The eldest is in year 9 and just chose her options. What a scary time, when kids are supposed to know what their chosen career is going to be (not in my daughter’s case, or mine when I was that age). The youngest is in year 6 and what his grades are will help dictate which ability groups he’ll be put into in September when he goes up to my daughter’s school. Pressure much?
I’m sure both will be fine. I’m currently stocking up on lots of revision books for the eldest as she is starting to struggle with Maths, having always been in the top groups for everything. I hope she claws her way up to a level 8. I’m not sure what my son’s projected grade is, I will ask his teacher next parents’ evening.
