I knew this would be aiming a little high. I’m pleased with the score I did get, though, so that’s all that matters, right?
I scored 1590 on the SAT (790 math, 800 verbal) but that was almost six years ago now. I majored in physics in college – the math section will be a joke for me, but the verbal section is going to be tough, and I know very little about the writing section.
I think that to get a perfect score, I mostly have to learn vocabulary. I’m familiar with the sorts of questions on there, and know the tricks to whittle down the options, but it sometimes comes down to, “do you know what this word means, or don’t you?”. So a perfect score on the GRE is motivation to get to learn new vocabulary, which I have as a goal anyway.
My hope is that if I study vocabulary for the GRE, it will become something of a life habit, and I’ll continue studying it without any exterior pressure resulting simply from the fact that I have to take a test a few months down the road.
