I can’t believe I’ve not been to England yet. That is the next trip I’m planning.

I’d highly recommend this to anyone interested in theatre. It is an amazing place and the atmosphere is good and more informal than other theatres. I was sceptical of the layout as I am used to 20th century theatres but enjoyed this as more people were closer to the stage and got involved in the play.

My main tip is to pay £1 and hire a cushion as the seats are hard wooden benches. If you need a lot of comfort hire two ;)

Haven’t found the tickets yet but I phoned the theatre and they’ve given me my reference number and if I can’t find the tix before I visit I can get reprinted tix on the day from the box office (as we’ve got seats).

That was close and unnecesarily worrying. I have too much else on to worry about that (that’s why the tix have gone and hidden somewhere in the flat – I bought them a week after hubby’s op and it’s been non-stop since then).

Birthday is now back on track.

I’m going in 2 days time and can’t find my tickets :( Ooops!

This gives me a BIG incentive to give my flat a major spring clean in a very short time.

Not sure what I’ll do if I can’t find them. It’s my birthday trip and first visit to The Globe. I REALLY want to go.

It was huge fun to hear animals cooing, hooting and calling during the performance.

The theatre is so special. It’s small but not that small, and the fact that it’s all made of wood makes it unique.

The play we saw (Titus Andronicus)was long but full of exciting and gruesome happenings. I took the text will me in case I missed anything, but my friends followed it perfectly well without a text. There’s no subplot, which makes it so much easier, and the plot is a simple one about revenge. I think it would make a hopeless study text but it is a very good staging text.

The production was great fun. There was incense, moving stands, music, clamour and death rattles, masks, ironic laughter, blood, and the pace was fast: it was really good entertainment.

So glad I organised it and took my friends Debbie and Katherine, as it was just a lovely night out for us all, though we got the last train home from Waterloo which made it a very late night; I’m on extra-strong coffee this morning.

Everybody should pick their production carefully and go. I went to one that had excellent reviews, and I got the best seats in the house. Be warned: the wooden benches are hard and there are no backs to them.

I saw an excellent performance of _Hamlet_ here  — 2 years ago

    Worth doing!

This was back in 2000, IIRC, with my then-girlfriend Jane, who lives in London. Stood for the whole performance and thought it was a blast, with Mark Rylance doing a very good job as the titular character. I’d enjoy coming back to see a more modern play here as well, for variety and also because, after all, it’s not JUST about the classics!
