Lol. Decided that keeping track and hence, being accountable, might help me break the cycle. The only processed foods I’m allowing are cereal (because I might die without this), diet drinks and sugar substitutes.

"I WANT THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" 2 months ago

and i so CAN handle the truth.

i’m trying to research alternatives since i want to make this a WAY OF LIFE. i read that Agave Nectar is awesome because it doesn’t spike your sugar levels. it is low on the glycemic index.

so i go to wikipedia read more. and find that Agave Nectar contains MORE FRUCTOSE THAN HIGH-FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP!!!!! wtf?

the also write this “Low-carb diet advocate Dr. Michael Eades M.D. advises to “avoid it [Agave syrup] like death”.”

great. so i was all psyched that i found something i can use in baking to replace sugar and 5 minutes later it’s snatched away.

this is why i have dragged my feet so hard all these years on healthy living. my aunt was the MODEL of healthy living my entire life. look how her life ended. (terrible agonizing death, i don’t want to get into it)

it seems you are damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

i know i need to treat my body better. i feel all the reckless eating, drinking, and recreational ‘stuff’ catching up to me.

but WHAT is the right thing? it’s vexing. i’m not giving up, but i’m terribly vexed right now. : – (

i have done a few fasts this year and i feel so much better then i fall into old ways of eating, pack on the SAME 15-25 lbs, and feel like total shit (i’m sick for the 10,000th time this year).

so i was analyzing what makes me feel and look less than awesome. i really think SUGAR is the big culprit with flour right behind it.

so i plan to try to eat mostly fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats.

i think this will help a lot with feeling and looking better.

I’ve really let this slip so this entry is my reaffirmation to succeed at this goal. Waste of calories and I want every calorie I eat to be as nutritious as it is delicious. At least I haven’t had cake in forever so slowly but surely, I’m getting there.

Easily the hardest thing on my list to do.

I’m a carboholic with a preference for junk foods. I’m trying to tackle the sugar addiction first while systemtically replacing my refined foods with whole foods. I should try to follow the diabetic diet that I had during my pregnancy. I’ll check the ADA website.

Ugh, this feels like it’s going to be some kind of HELL but I know I’ll feel better if I succeed!

A good rule to follow 2 years ago

It’s simple, and you’ll find so many people doing it, once you start, that you’ll find support along the way, and if you are patient, you will lose weight. Even a pound of month will make a huge difference in two years. If you are pre-diabetic, it should have a big impact.

still trying to follow the new way of eating 2 years ago

This morning I weighed 180, down 27 pounds from when I first started. I still want to try for 160, and a BMI of under 25. So that means I have to still be careful about quantities of rice, chocolate and other things I crave, and add resistance training. I walk my dog every morning; perhaps if I add 15 minutes to this walk, I will cross that threshold that seems so hard to cross – 180! By the way, I’m 5’8” and ideal weight is probably 155.

Although recently I haven’t been as strict, this choice has made it so much easier to bypass foods that formerly I wouldn’t be able to resist. Along with joining the gym and adding yoga, swimming, workouts and tennis, I have lost 17 pounds. I think it is a highly worthy goal.
