I have a number of songs I enjoy singing in French… and I would love the opportunity to sing them at a local venue. I just need to find some other musicians who are willing to do mostly covers until we can write our own stuff…

How I did it: A friend wrote a song in a key he can't hit. He offered me the chance to sing it instead. We set up a mic, hit record and captured a new holiday masterpiece! Totally fun! Read how I did it…

How I did it: A couple of friends and I decided to form a band to play for one night only at a charity gig. We were all starting from scratch so sound pretty rough to start with. Thus, we decided to call ourselves 'Lower Your Expectations'.We formed at the end off October 2008 and didn't really manage to practice much until after the New Year when we hired a practice room every Wednesday. We tried to document our progress as a giggle and we did ac… Read how I did it…
How I did it: It had always wanted to sing in a band but didn't think I ever would. It eventually happened when I least expected it. I started taking group singing lessons, really, 'just for fun'. This introduced to a 'bandworkshop'. The band that was formed for this occasion, decided to stay together. Read how I did it…

I really love to sing. I would like to be in a band playing any instrument, but I’m not really too good at any instruments, but I can sing. I can sing for my close friends and I don’t get nervous. I sang a capella in my public speaking class, however, and my voice was trembling. So I have stage fright- well it might be different on an actual stage or with a band backing me up- hopefully better, not worse. I didn’t think I would be nervous, but I was. I mean I do have social anxiety somewhat offstage, but I WANT to sing. I’ll go the karaoke (public) practice route to try to get over this. I’m even nervous to try out for a band, I might not be familiar with the bands they are influenced by, and secondly I do not have my own pa system, which might count against me. Stage fright & lack of equipment… My friend says I’m good though, my chorus teacher said that I was good and should continue singing, and someone in the class I was singing for told me I was good, I know I am a good singer, but that doesn’t ease my nervousness. And I did do 2 concerts while I was in chorus, but a) I was in a group, not the only one singing b) we didn’t really have to do anything but stand there and sing and c) I was nervous during these concerts. So I have to work on my social anxiety, stage fright, confidence, and get a decent pa system.

you know that nervous feeling when you’ve let yourself into something which you had no plans of ever doing or even any recollection of how it got this far = how i feel.

Singing is something I enjoy and it’s just something that i would want to do I dont care if I become famous.
I’ve been singing in a rock-pop choir now for five years or so, and it’s time to take the next step. The problem is, I don’t know anyone with a band.
My current plan is to record me singing a bit of karaoke, and then post it with an advert on some large music community website to see if I can find some like-minded hobbyists in need of a singer.
I have been putting this off for too long and need to do something about it soon.
I’ve always wanted to sing in a band, but I’m not old enough yet! I don’t know anyone in my town that’s my age that could join a band! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find someone to play in the band?
shamilto is working on her list of "things"
I just want to sing with a band, just one performance to say that I’ve done it!
I love to sing, but I have stage fright. Not just stage fright, people fright. In school I could never read an essay in front of the class because my hands would shake the paper so much I couldn’t read the words.
I’ve found myself in situations where I feel comfortable, and I do really well in those cases, but trying out, or asking to sing for someone, are never those cases.
The other thing that worries me is that I can’t write music or play any instruments (I’m trying that, separately). I feel like no one would want a singer who isn’t also a musician (unless you’re doing covers or something, which could be fun I guess).
Any advice for figuring this stuff out?
