I try again

I have taken the swim classes but have not found an instructor that understands that I have a fear of water. I beleive I can swim if for not of the fact that I think I am going to drown. Why do I think that? I have nearly drown twice. Or at least in my mind I beleived I was drowning. But now I have 2 daughters and I want to enjoy what I missed as a kid growing up living with this fear of water.

... that i’ve done this; overcome it. i haven’t banished it, but i think that i can safely say that i’ve overcome it.
a little bit of fear is healthy!

we had a pool in our backyard growing up. my brothers used to hold me under the water waaaaay too long. sometimes they would hold me under and then let me up for one second before i got pushed back under. when i was 16 i was on a group date to the lake. the guys in the group kept talking about the 3 “man eating carps” in the lake. i had no idea they were lying, i knew nothing about carps. they drove the boat close to the dam and said they liked to hang out by the dam cause it was deeper. then they tossed me over and drove away. i wont go in the water and i take my kids swimming about once a year in the summer because once is good enough for me…holy anxiety!

mistri100 is wondering how to find my 43 places
I learned to swim at school and even won competitions. However when I was 19 I went to Orlando Florida and nearly drowned. I haven’t swam since. That’s over 18 years ago. I made sure my daughter had swimming lessons since the age of 5 and now she’s in her school swimming squad. She has just realised that she has never seen me swim and is beginning to ask questions. I’m going to start learning how to swim again after the baby is born and regain my confidence.
