This is just something I think should be done. I had a near-drowning experience when I was a kid and I’ve never been comfortable in water since. Eventually I suppose it’ll involve some sort of class for fearful adults, but until then, I’m just putting it out there as a goal for sometime in my life. 17 months ago

I have taken the swim classes but have not found an instructor that understands that I have a fear of water. I beleive I can swim if for not of the fact that I think I am going to drown. Why do I think that? I have nearly drown twice. Or at least in my mind I beleived I was drowning. But now I have 2 daughters and I want to enjoy what I missed as a kid growing up living with this fear of water. 3 years ago

... that i’ve done this; overcome it. i haven’t banished it, but i think that i can safely say that i’ve overcome it.
a little bit of fear is healthy!

we had a pool in our backyard growing up. my brothers used to hold me under the water waaaaay too long. sometimes they would hold me under and then let me up for one second before i got pushed back under. when i was 16 i was on a group date to the lake. the guys in the group kept talking about the 3 “man eating carps” in the lake. i had no idea they were lying, i knew nothing about carps. they drove the boat close to the dam and said they liked to hang out by the dam cause it was deeper. then they tossed me over and drove away. i wont go in the water and i take my kids swimming about once a year in the summer because once is good enough for me…holy anxiety! 4 years ago
