Went to the Elixer of Love, a classical opera in Italian with subtitles displayed on a screen above the stage. I think this truly was a once in a lifetime experience, as I doubt my husband and I will go again. But, we agreed it was very civilized and worth doing once.

Possibly my favourite motif for any story line, but especially for this opera. The music is ageless and the whole concept of this opera has been one I have wanted to see for a very long time. I just so happens that it is playing, along with Suor Angelica in Ft. Lauderdale this year. My mum, who knows operas much better than I do, said she would take me if we didn’t have anything planned that week. I couldn’t be more excited. I truly hope I get to attend.

As a fan of all things cultural and music related, this should be a fascinating experience.

I love cultural pasttimes, wearing a dress, music, and emotions. All these seem to embodied in what we deem “opera”, and I long to see one.

I have not yet :( But really want to, I love classical music and opera. Of course seeing Philharmonic would be fun too…Valery Gergiev!

Santa Fe Opera is a beauty of a building 2 years ago

just walking in and around there, and people-watching, is worth the price of the cheap seats.

I saw Tea by Tan Dun. The score uses water, paper, and rocks as musical instruments, which was interesting. However, I will confess that I don’t fully appreciate the opera aesthetic.

I went to see the Takarazuka Sky Stage and if any of you guys are ever in Japan you should definately go see them too.

You know, seeing an opera is a wonderful oppertunity.
The one I saw was alright. The soprano predictable, the bass hilariou,s the tenor passable.

But go. Seats are worth $100 or more and the memories are just as great!

I had a chance to do this several weeks ago. I passed it up though to take my fiancee’ a milshake at work. I’ll get another chance eventually though. Maybe then I’ll take it.

Peter took me to the opera. Not bad really, but I like more the teathre.

    Pagliacci.... 3 years ago

It was really awesome. We, like a few others I’ve read on here, had subtitles… which, did help a lot at the beginning, but the actors and actresses were just so phenomenal… you really didn’t need them by the end. Very heart breaking.
    And breath taking.
