renovate my home

our run down home in 2003 with every intention to renovate immediately. Unfortunately we were both made redundant. We decided to start our own business which has kept us too busy to do anything about the house. It is now falling down around us!

We now have the plans, the planning permission and the money. Just need to find the time.

Recently, my wife and I purchased a beautiful house with loads of character…. 23 year old character. Now it is time to start putting our touch to our living space.

So far I have built floor to ceiling bookshelves and a computer desk to turn a spare main floor room into a library. Also, I have built an entertainment stand for he TV. This is in addition to normal care and cleaning.

The next jobs include; further insulating the attic, insulating the basement and putting in a air ventilation system. These should be done by Christmas. After that the fun stuff begins!

Yesterday, sitting on the couch, trying hard to figure out the color scheme for the hall and the bedroom and the theme and the feel and… trying to envision it all, suddenly I saw it: I saw everything clearly. My renovated flat, my renovated life. Everything had its place, it was in harmony, functional, beautiful, satisfying. I saw it, I felt it, I could almost touch it. It’s doable.
