Typo’s not what it used to be. If you’re going to set up a blog with Rails, write your own. It only takes fifteen minutes including web services and whatnot. If you’re too lazy for that, wait for Mephisto.
Just wait till typo 2.5 comes out. The admin interface is a whole new beast—very flexible and capable!
Also love it because it’s so easy to dive into the code and make contributions. Such fun, and a great way to start contributing to Free Software.
gothelin is starting to get stuff done again.
My biggest problem is that not only does my server not run ruby as standard, but I don’t have shell access. I’m going to have to get one or both of these things fixed (preferably both) to get this sorted.
Quite frankly, its a pain in the butt and I can understand why noone can be bothered with installing ruby web apps. However, I will continue with this as I quite like the way typo looks. And unlike Textpattern, typo’s creator acknowledges the fact that trackbacks and pings are an important part of blogging.
I’ve already asked some questions and gotten a response direct from Robby on Rails himself. I mean, I don’t know if he really has other people working for him, so maybe all responses come from him.
Anyway, once I get access to a proper server, I’ll get started on my typo weblog, and from there get started on learning about Rails.
