So… I tested today. Did better than I expected… but I still did not pass. Will retest next week, after some additional practice time.
I will not fail a second time.
But now I am exhausted… gonna go take a nap now. 5 days ago

Had my night driving session yesterday, with a teacher whom I am convinced is determined to see me fail at this. I think he does want me to succeed, but his teaching style and my learning style conflict BADLY!!! By the end of the session I was beyond discouraged, downtrodden, hopeless, defeated.
I seriously doubt I will pass my driving test today. Seriously considering trying to have it postponed… except I am scheduled to test today with the teach I DO get along with… if I change it I may have to test with the guy I DON’T get along with, then I REALLY KNOW I would fail for sure. I think I have at least a 1% chance of passing with this guy. 5 days ago

Still working with the second truck…. it has made all the difference in the world!!! I am still not 100% with my shifting, some work yet to do there… but MUCH improved. My backing maneuvers have also improved immensely!
Tonight I do my night drive session, tomorrow I only have about 2 hours practice time with backing maneuvers… then I test.
I have been talking with the recruiter at Werner Trucking… I am scheduled fro orientation this Wednesday in Denver! If I pass THEIR tests I am in. I will be trucking all over the lower 48 states OTR! I will be everywhere!!! I am told I need to get my passport too, because I WILL be trucking up into Canada to! It PAYS to have a clean driving AND criminal background! 6 days ago

I have had 3 driving days now. One whole day, and two half days. The first day out I got to put the truck through the gears a few times without a trailer, then with a trailer, then drive around a bit in the outskirts of town. I didn’t really like the shift pattern of that truck (it is a super 10, for those of you who know what that is). After I drove it back to the school (without wrecking or killing anyone… YAY!), we did backing maneuvers the rest of the day. I felt pretty good about the day as a whole.
Yesterday I drove the same truck again. Backing maneuvers only. I started the day ok, but I seemed to be getting WORSE as the day went on. Ended on a fairly frustrated note yesterday.
Today though, I got to drive a different truck… this one is a regular 10 speed with a high and low range. I did MUCH better with that truck. One of my teachers is concerned about me starting over with a different truck, because backing will be a little different with that one because it has a tighter turning radius. I am sure I can do it though.
I have a full driving day again tomorrow, morning AND afternoon, then Thursday I do a night drive (but it will only BARELY be night 5:30-9:30). Then Friday I get a couple more hours training… then it is TEST TIME!
Wish me luck! I’m gonna need it! That’s a LOT to learn in a very short amount of time! 1 week ago

Its a life that you either love or hate. There is NO middle ground. Me, I absolutely loved every minute I spent on the road. If you dont love the life, I would not recommend it it to anyone.
Driving a truck is hell on a marriage and most fail. I know of some that have survived, but not many.
Its not a job, its not a career, it IS a lifestyle. If you dont love it, find something else to do. Simple as that. 4 weeks ago
