I finally got this going, thanks to T’s help and motivation.
I found a VERY simple recipe:
1 liter Vodka
10 split vanilla beans
That’s it. Store in a dark, cool place. Just be sure to give a shake every day or so. Wait at least 3 weeks. Supposedly best after 6 months. It can be topped off with Vodka as needed for up to 1 year.
We used 8 vanilla beans in 750 mls of Vodka.
I will wait at least 6 months before I mark this goal complete. I want to make sure it’s totally awesome. The price of pure vanilla extract is so expensive that I’m reluctant to buy it when I know it can be done so cheaply. I found a great deal on organic vanilla beans on ebay. 5 months ago
