finish putting together reading lists for my comprehensive exams

My PhD reading lists (in 20th century African American and Native American narrative, American science fiction, and feminist theory) are completed and turned in to my committee. My chair and one other member have already signed off on them. I’m just waiting for the third okay. Then it’s on to the next step: reading the books and preparing for my exams.

First I need to talk to the chair of my committee about changing one of my areas. We had decided on the following: feminist theory, multi-ethnic literatures of the U.S. since 1940, and American literature from 1890-1939 (or something like those dates). But I want to talk to her about dropping the final list and replacing it with American science fiction.

If that gets approved, the next step is to finalize the feminist theory and multi-ethnic literatures lists and put together the science fiction list.
