Here’s an antidote to the usual “pitbulls in the ghetto” saga:

But he hasn’t found housing. Sometimes he talks about Foxy. I miss that girl.

It’s very hot in Hoboken, and Randy was standing in an alley, down the street from the dog run where he used to hang out with Foxy. He told me he’d just wet himself down with the hose from the dog run. We both remembered when he used to use this hose to cool Foxy off. “Now, it’s just me.”

Thanks, Foxy.

Her name is Eureka. We walked her at a Jersey City shelter last Sunday, and she is a doll..not apparently great around other dogs, but a ball of happiness and energy when we were walking her.

So, if you know anyone in the NYC/Northern NJ area who’s looking for a pretty pit girl who could be a personal trainer, Eureka’s your girl

Faith and I have seen him two days running.
This weekend, Jeff and I are walking a dog at a shelter who looks very much like our dog, and is very much in need of adoption.
I’ll post a link to the dog tomorrow…my connection is very slow.

There was a mobile adoption unit in front of our ShopRite yesterday, and I told the organizer that I would stop by their building and drop off some of my books, if that would help.
Today I saw Randy, looking okay. I asked him if he had enough water, and nagged him, gently, about getting the housing application in. He told me he was the youngest kid in his family, and that his family had mostly been on welfare.
“But no excuses,” he said, “Right?”

I have a day off today, so I’m going to look for Randy and talk to Kathy, his friend who has helped him in the past.
