I kept it up through most of the summer. I was buying flowers at the market. Loved the whole process: choosing flowers, wandering the market, taking in all the colours, then preparing them and displaying them at home.

However…. they don’t last very long, and it does get a tad pricey for someone who’s on a tight budget. So I decided to get some plants and herbs instead. Someday I would like an indoor plant that has flowers. The best of both worlds!

OK, since I am getting rid of all my stuff,  — 1 year ago

That obviously includes the big flower vase.

A friend is having (has recently had?) a birthday in July, but she’s rather sneaky about when it is specifically. So I think I will fill my flower vase up with blooms and take it over to her house!

That means I’ll be flowerless for 2 weeks, but it’ll be worth it. (And I can certainly buy some flowers as soon as I get to my new apartment) :-D

Very very worth it!  — 1 year ago

And, I think if you buy flowers from a supermarket, they’re much less expensive than at a flower shop. Although, it’s very possible flowers are cheaper in Japan than they will be in Vancouver. I think many people buy flowers regularly here.

Plus at a supermarket you don’t get all that “gift-wrap” stuff, which is so wasteful.

I’ve been doing this consistently enough that I think it’s become a habit. If I didn’t have flowers now, I would definitely notice.

I have been doing this intermittently for several months now. I just added it as a goal to remind myself how nice it is to have fresh flowers around.

It’s one of those worthwhile indulgences.

Admittedly, I am terrible at arranging flowers, but that still doesn’t detract from the happy-flower-feeling I get when I see them all clumped up in the vase by the window :-)

Good day sunshine  — 1 year ago

I tried this once but it didn’t work out so well. The problem is that my apartment heats up and gets all stuffy and the flowers well the poor things were wilted after one day and ugly enough to throw out after two. tear Anyone have any ideas on types of flowers I could keep in my place to brighten it up?
