I was transplanted to the U.S. at the age of 3—-but every few years would journey back to South America to visit family with my parents and brother. My favorite memories in the world are of staying at my grandparent’s 1000 acre ranch in the rolling hills of the Uruguayian countryside and of staying at their beachhouse. I have no more perfect memories than those. And I felt a profound loss when my grandparents sold their beach house (beachfront property!) for only $30,000 US $. I cursed my (young) age and lack of $$ to purchase it to keep in the family. I was also greatly saddened when they sold their ranch but they had to do it as they were too old to be running it any longer. My dream is to somehow establish my own ties and my own haven there.
