I found a website with really easy to follow instructions. Then I memorized them… After about 12 solves I had it down.

How I did it: My friend is an experienced cuber and he taught me the algorithims and that weekend, I went online to continue my learning, On monday, I could do it with few mistakes. That was on Feb 2009. I am now learning Frindrich and I hope to continue. Very easy as long as you stay motivated. Once you feel satisfied, move on to bigger cubes (4x4;5x5;6x6;7x7, megaminx, square one) Read how I did it…

How I did it: Watched a you tube video (the two parts one that's very popular) of a guy giving step by step instructions, and then followed them pausing and replaying parts I couldn't get. Then I wrote down the 8 algorithms on a piece of paper and practiced away from the video following the algorithms (those who will watch the video will know what Im talking about). All together it took about 5 hours for me to go from not being able to get … Read how I did it…
How I did it: I used the solver booklet that came with my Rubik's cube and combined that with a couple online sites. The key is to have a solving strategy (cross, corners, middle, cross, corners) and then memorize the turn combinations to accomplish each step. Now that I have learned it, it's sort of boring . . . but I can get over that by looking up faster, more efficient ways of solving the cube. How I did it: A Scottish woman that I'm living with taught me while on a camping trip with 70 year 5 kids. Makes it a little hard to learn, but I got there eventually :) Read how I did it…
How I did it: My nerdy bf could do this under 2 minutes, and I was pretty amazed. I asked him to teach me, and once I learned I was "ehh, ok. What else?" lolIt wasn't as hard as I imagined, and so once I learned it wasn't a big deal.I think it was worth doing just to see if I could do it. Read how I did it…

My physicist boyfriend and all his genius friends made it seem to easy so I talked one of them into showing me how.
I was very proud of myself (a math idiot child) for learning, but I will say that…
...once you memorize the algorithms, there’s nothing to it. It just takes a bit of patience to get the algorithms right.
whahappen hApPY juSt to bE !!
Umm…can you say “Obsessed?” Actually, I just wanted to have one handy everywhere (work, home, car, bathroom – just kidding!)
I finally looked up the algorithms (God bless YouTube!). Still need to make time to practice. I’ll get there yet!

Everyone in my family was obsessed with solving Rubik’s cube in the early 80’s. Back then there weren’t any tutorials, so we just went into it Geek-strong. The most sides I solved was 5. But I’m ready to try again. I’m a little torn about using solutions (ahem, cheating?). Do I just go full-throttle brain-power with it? It seems like the mystery will be gone if I just look up the solutions instead of trying to figure out the pattern. Maybe I’ll try on my own for a month and if no success, then I’ll swallow my pride and look it up. I’m buying one this weekend!
Here is a Youtube video [link] from “Pursuit of Happyness” featuring Will Smith as Chris Gardner, solving a Rubik’s cube. “It looks like it works around a swivel – the center pieces never move.”
Also features “speed cubers,” including Leyan Lo, who can solve the cube in 2 minutes…blindfolded.
As for me I just want to know how to finish the puzzle in the first place (without rearranging the stickers on the cube!) :)
lovingeveryminute is apparently an Extroverted Self-Knowing Lifelong Learner (<1%, wow!)
That’s my time nowadays.
I know it’s not the fastest time around, but hey—most of the people who can get it done faster than me weren’t even born the first time I solved the thing!
Completely scrambled to solved in 7 minutes and 42 seconds without any cheat sheet!
solved three sides the other day… not sure how i did it, i havent been able to reprouce it again yet…. but i was really happy the other day when i did it
I never had any patience with Rubik’s Cubes when they first came out. Now I have the patience and desire to learn. I’ve bought a cube and taught myself how to solve the first layer. The cube came with a book telling how to move certain pieces in certain ways, so the next step is to learn those sequences of moves so in future I can pick up a cube and solve it from memory.
I’m using this technique which seems pretty straightforward.
Note that I say solve the first ‘layer’ not the first ‘side’... I think it’s important to think this way… it means that not only is one side correct, but also the stripe around the cube immediately next to the solved face is also correct.
