Make an Emergency Kit

I bought a bunch of canned food, juice, medical supplies, and water. Not enough, though. Plus, my son eats up the good stuff I’m saving. I will do an inventory this winter and make sure I have enough for two weeks. I really think all hell’s gonna break loose here pretty soon. How’s that for positive?

I want to make a totebag to take in the event of a disaster or in the need to evacuate. The Flood of 1993 caused people to be evacuated even though they were not in danger of the flood. Remember the floating propane tank time bombs. This kit would include copies of important papers, cash, lists of doctors and prescriptions. It would not contain food and water. That would be a different kit. This would be one I could grab along with my purse on the way out the door.

I almost went and bought some water for my emergency kit. The thing that stopped me was…where am I going to put this stuff??? I need to clear a space in the basement that I just reorganized. Then, probably, water will be the first thing I buy.
