It seems very Zen to me. Lessen your desires for a clearer mind and conscience. I am well on my way to becoming a complete minimalist, owning less than 200 things. There are so many things I could want, like the new Apple MacBook Air, but it just further enforces our American culture of consumption. It is the new American pastime. Forget baseball, football. We love buying things as a nation. I am so sick of people saying, “I have to have this,” and “I have to have that.” I haven’t been one of those people for a long time now, but as I progress into this way of life, it feels like a gigantic weight lifted off my shoulders. Once I rid myself of all excess, I will be the truly simplistic being I was meant to be.
Edit: 4/2/08 When you want for nothing, you begin to see how ridiculous our culture of consumption is. I get a lot of inspiration from the movie Fight Club. I wish you all luck.
