Finally saw them at Alexandra Palace in London, 29 Nov 2007. The venue and audience were pretty shite, but I genuinely believe Interpol are incapable of playing a bad show.
I’d watched countless Youtube videos of previous performances and they were absolutely meant to do this. All the bollocks about them being stiff or distant is a bigger falsehood than saying Lord Nelson had two arms when he died.
Absolutely stunning. Unofficial new goal: see them again as soon as possible.

Giving up...
After at a week and a half (i think) of this goal, i realized i couldn’t complete this goal because 1: I’m Christian and i can’t really listen to their music, 2: I’m a minor and i won’t be going 2 any concert soon, and 3: It’s a pretty pointless goal and i need space. I’m not hating on any ppl doing this goal, so don’t jump 2 conclusions. So… ya…

my friend introduced me 2 interpol, since he is a freakishly deep fantic, and i could c y. “Pace is The Trick” made me cry 3 nights in a row, and “Narc” 1 week. They really are awesome, digging into the deeper realms of your romantic brain.

It was at the San Diego FM949 Independence jam… I partially recorded Pioneer to the falls, it was blast, kings of leon, some other bands I didn’t care too much about were there too, but I went for the Interpol, I cannot wait until their next visit, by then I’d be 18… and go wherever to see them.
I bought & printed tickets out on an email confirmation, good price fun show, I had planned to go there, since I had heard of it in March.
They began to play pretty much after the sun went down around 8pm, their light show was fantastic, and boldly enlightened the music to the exact mood for what they wanted, it was hard to believe I had made it to an Interpol show, they played favorites such as not even jail, and obstacle 1, new stuff like mammoth & heinrich maneuver.
I had even managed to capture a playlist, I framed it it had been written on by paul, he had written short “JAG” beside certain songs so he would play his newly touring guitar his fender jaguar, instead of just his traditional les paul… & I got a t-shirt after pre-ordering the new album. I have a picture in my pictures of me holding the playlist and wearing the interpol shirt.
It was a blast, that night really took me away, I wish I could have relived that night a countless number of times over…

It was my first real show and my first Interpol show ever.
The venue was lovely and they sounded AMAZING, Paul’s voice was perfect, the setlist was lovely. I shudder and just kindof lose touch with reality every time I think about it, it was a dream and just utterly wonderful in every way.
I hope they tour again in spring, I need to see them again! Everything else just kindof pales in comparison.
I wasn’t expecting them to have crazy stage presence, because I know they don’t, but I feel like they are so into what they’re doing that at least for me and a lot of other people it just totally transcends seeing a band play and it becomes downright…spiritual?

The first time I saw them it was at SDSU’s open air theatre in San Diego about two years ago. It was mindblowing. They’ve mentioned before that they are more of night performers and no kidding…the lights and effects they put out coincide so well with their music. I thought at that time I couldn’t love Interpol more, but that show clearly proved me wrong. It made me such a bigger fan. The show was so charismatic…and I am not exaggerating as I say this. I’d do anything to relive that night.
However, I recently saw them last month at Southwestern College, alongside Spoon and Kings of Leon. Smaller venue and the stage was homemade so they didn’t have as much of the lights and effects as I was hoping. They played some new music off their “Our Love to Admire” album. Unfortunately, for some reason, I didn’t feel so much from this show as I did the first time. They seemed much more into their performance the first time around, but it’s okay. I still love Interpol.
Still something definitely worth doing, though. :]
