As long as I can remember, I’ve been rather negative when it comes to life outlook. My philosophy has always been “If you set the bar low, you’ll never be disappointed and you’ll never disappoint.” I’m now mature enough to realize that by looking at life this way, I’ve severely limited myself. By looking on the bright side, I will take more risks. If I take more risks, I will have greater rewards. If I don’t gain the rewards, I will fail, but our failures help shape us as much as our successes, so onward I go.

Day one of looking on the bright side went well. I started thinking more positive and things are already happening in my favor. It’s lovely.

It’s raining and thundering and lightening is occurring. THis is a pretty typical occurrance in central Florida in June. Unfortunately I was so so looking forward to swimming today.
Well, the bright side is that I really am not supposed to be swimming that much per the Medicos, so tomorro at my appointment I can honestly say that I have not been in the pool for a long time. I hope he won’t ask why. It’s pretty hard for me to lie to that guy.

My “House Sitter” moved out suddenly, and only told me after she moved. She was upset that she had to pay a bill that she thought wasn’t hers, but she didn’t tell me, she just moved.
I am OVERJOYED. Just today I was wishing I could go back to my house for my “Spot Bot” and a few other things. I am currently only 2 hours away, so it isn’t a big trip at all. Now, when I have long weekends, I can spend them AT HOME.
Next up would be to just hire a house sitter/checker. Always better to keep things professional.
I did however, inform her I’d be happy to send her all the money for whatever Bill it was she thought was a problem. Partly because I am so delighted she isn’t in the house anymore. Frankly, she was constantly having problems with things and since she wans’t paying any rent it was hard for me to feel as committed as a landlord might.
Now I can go home and get my mail and socailize with people I like when I have 3 days in a row off…

But it is not perfect yet. Life has this annoying way of making other plans than you and being a bit of a stubborn person… well, lets just say my mood is a bit volatile when I cannot complete something simple. But.. as they say. Practice does make perfect and overall I am feeling a lot less worried about stuff. After all.. it is already planned to a certain extent would you not agree?

This week has been very trying. One of my most experienced employees gave her 2 weeks on Monday. Her last day is right in the middle of the BIG move from one facility to the next. We are moving the three filerooms housed at our current facility into one large fileroom at our new facility. We start moving this Monday, the 11th. We will not finish until our desks move on the 20th.
In the meantime, my Grandmother has had another stroke. She goes from being perfectly lucid one day to talking to people not there the next. That and the hallucinations of the walls bending in and the traffic on the ceiling…not to mention the woman sitting on the curtain rod above her window who was smoking. Boy, was grandma pissed! The frustrating part is that she gets manic during these episodes and is up and out of bed and tearing things apart…she’s looking for something but doesn’t know or can’t tell us what it is. She is still active physically when she feels up to it. She is able to communicate and can talk without difficulty…she sometimes pulls the wrong words, but nothing like my great aunt, her sister, who almost speaks in code.
Then there’s the holidays on top of all of this. I don’t know when I am going to do the Christmas shopping and baking with all of the stuff going on. My mother will be visiting the day after Christmas and my house is a mess. (Who has time to clean? Even FLY Lady isn’t helping me out this time.) And now I think I’m coming down with a cold…which I really cannot afford to do right now!
I guess I should be thankful that I have a job, even if it is a busy one right now. Thankful that we will be in a brand new facility with lots of space and a decrease in stressors as a direct result of making the move. Thankful that I have a few more moments to create memories with my grandmother…to tell her I love her and to just be with her. A house is a house and my mom loves me even if it is dirty! And maybe I’ll just have Christmas in February this year!

Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you’re chewing on life’s gristle
Don’t grumble, give a whistle
And this’ll help things turn out for the best
And…
...always look on the bright side of life
{whistle}
Always look on the light side of life
{whistle}
If life seems jolly rotten
There’s something you’ve forgotten
And that’s to laugh and smile and dance and sing
When you’re feeling in the dumps
Don’t be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle – that’s the thing
And…
Always look on the bright side of life
{whistle}
Come on
Always look on the right side of life,
{whistle}
For life is quite absurd
And death’s the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow
Forget about your sin – give the audience a grin
Enjoy it – it’s your last chance anyhow
So always look on the bright side of death
{whistle}
Just before you draw your terminal breath
{whistle}
Life’s a piece of shit
When you look at it
Life’s a laugh and death’s a joke, it’s true
You’ll see it’s all a show
Keep ‘em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you
And always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the right side of life
{whistle}
Come on guys, cheers up...
Always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the bright side of life...
Worse things happen at sea, you know
Always look on the bright side of life...
I mean - what have you got to lose?
You know, you come from nothing
- you're going back to nothing
What have you lost? NOTHING!
Always look on the bright side of life
{fade}

If something doesn’t work out, there is no use getting down about how things are going to turn out, since there is usually nothing that I can do to change it. Just accept it, move on, pick yourself up, and learn from it. It’s easier said than done, but I consider myself pretty good at it.
There are always certain opportunities that open up should something not work out. I try to think about those, and how I can make those work out best for me in the situation.

Gave myself a serious talking too today.
I’m waaay too grumpy about my leg, it seems to have taken over my personality.
So on the bright side.
I have no need to get up too early, I’ve learnt all sorts of new exersises at the gym and outside of it.
I’ve met a ton of new people (including my handsome physician…)
It isn’t killing me, really.
There are actually other facets to my life/personality (really I swear to it!!!)
Feeling better all the time!
