I’m sick :( can’t run. Or do anything!
io_ragazza has too much to do...
I was pretty much doing this before but have got out of the habit as life kind of got in the way – time to start again!

I’m not sure how to change this goal from “run everyday” to “run three times a week” or “run more often,” but for now, I’m going to consider it one of those as I really don’t see running every day as feasible for my current situation. I don’t want to delete this goal, either, since I’ve already written some entries about it.
So, from now on, I’m going to count this goal as being fulfilled if I end up running at least three days a week.

I didn’t run as soon as I got up today because we had to get ready for our cook-out, but once that was over, I went for my run and I ran the entire way this time. I’m still out of shape, but I’m getting there. :-)

I’m feeling really good right now. I’ve gone out running for two days in a row and I’m hoping that I can make this a daily habit again. I had been running every other day for about a year, but I let job stresses wear me down and it’s been over two years since the last time I’ve run for consecutive days.

I let it lapse for way too long. Before today, the last time I’d gone running was on my 42nd birthday, way over a year ago. Because I’ve gotten so out of shape, I could only run about a mile this time, but I’m going to see if I can do a little every day until I’m back up to running five miles a pop again.
Wish me luck!

I have a marathon to run at the end of September, and I gotta start training… I swim and walk regularly, but can never bring myself to run. Wish me luck on this one =)
Basically I’ve been trying to run some 5K’s lately, seeing as how I got so good at them back in my XC days.
The first time I ran was very discouraging. I was so out of shape, and ran in the smouldering heat (94 degrees with heavy sunlight) without any water. I ended up getting around 41 minutes total, which of course is terrible by any standards.
I tried it again the next day, and managed to get a little lower – 38 minutes.
I then waited two days (the weekend), and didn’t run at all, in order to ‘refuel’ myself. I went hiking on Sunday, but that was barely a challenge. I then tried the 5K again today, and was able to nudge my time down to 31 minutes.
I think a 10 minute improvement in 5 days is quite nice, and definitely shows that once you’ve done something once already, it comes back to you much quicker than if you’re doing it for the first time.
Yep, I think this will be worthwhile. I ran cross country in the fall and did fairly well: I started off at the very bottom in terms of time for the 5K but gradually moved up to around the middle of the team by the end of the season, which I think was a great improvement. However, I’ve slacked off and haven’t run in three or more months. I think I’ve exhausted any endurance I may have built up from doing XC.
I want to do outdoor track in the spring, so I want to start running now. I think I’ll start waking up early and running either around the neighborhood or on the high school track nearby. Not sure if it’s open that early, though. I’ll find out. Hopefully I’ll start this coming weekend. When track season comes around, I’ll see how much I improved.
EDIT: I think I’ll start tomorrow. An early morning run, say at like 5 AM. Yes that should be good.
