Take the kids too!

I would love to take a roadtrip in the next couple years, before my daughter is out of the house, and see Mt. Rushmore
I saw it when I was younger on the way back from a road trip across the USA to visit relatives. It was different, in my opinion, than what I saw in the pictures, but it was breathtaking. Anyone thinking about doing this definitely should.
The faces are magnificent, and while I knew they were left unfinished, I never knew what the sculptor had in mind! His vision was beautiful and it’s a shame it couldn’t be completed.
I’m an American citizen who possesses a vast amount of patriotism, so for me, the mountain held a lot more than beauty. I went to the mountain with immigrants who are in various stages of the citizenship process. On the ride up, we passed the badlands among other sites. All I could hear was “well, we have this back home” blah blah. No matter what the sites held, they had better back home. I dreaded seeing the mountain with them in case they disparaged that, too. To my surprise, the eldest had tears in his eyes. He said he had never seen anything like it, and he profusely thanked the person who had brought us.
Seeing it is absolutely powerful. So powerful, that it prompted my boyfriend to propose to me under Abraham Lincoln, haha. He knows what I like.
Dawn is relaxing after a long day at work!
And it never got old! I don’t live in SD anymore, so I don’t get to go back very often. I would love to go this year and see all of the Black Hills again!
