The problem is, my wife and I own a costume shop and that’s a real busy month already.
I might just pick another month for my Personal Novel Writing Month.
How I did it: I started with a really broad premise and then during October I read Chris Baty's book _No Plot No Problem_ and came up with a very sketchy outline. I also used yWriter software to create empty scenes that I filled in during November. yWriter was like a roadmap once I'd created the scenes. All I had to do was write them up. It wasn't always easy, but it was a ton of fun.

I first found out about it ‘04 and I thought it was such an interesting idea. A week before Nov hit, I sat down and did a rough plan. Lo and behold, Halloween came before I knew it and then midnight and then BAM we were off.
I plugged away at my computer and I listented to all kinds of music. I talked to amazing new people and met awesome writers. I learned more than I ever had. I went through the ups and downs of Nano, week 1’s hyperactivity, week 2’s depression, week 3’s restarting up in the zone, and week 4’s trudging. I loved it. I met some amazing friends, especially in the chatroom and forums.
It was a really life-changing experience, but you have to throw yourself into the website as well, not just the writing. The forums are great!
I finished my project in 2004, 2005, but not in 2006. I wasn’t intending to finish it because I never intended to work that hard. This year, we’ll see.
My first year doing it and I won with just over 55K words and four days to spare. woot!
I highly recommend you get yourself a NaNo cheerleader (a damn good, supportive friend is key). You will rah-rah eachother on with Word Wars and plot ideas.

This year was the third year I did it, and the first year I had a complete 50,000 word novel by the end of the month. Damn good, if I may say so myself :P
The commitment of doing that was just all too much for me. I will expand on this later…
Hooray!
50,000 words and change, it’s a miracle in my crazy November this year. I am happy as a clam.
grasshopperking0 Getting ready for our retreat this week.... at the BEACH!
i dont know what else to do, last week something happened to my saved document that was my novel, making it inaccesable. oh the pain the agony. i probably could have put the clamp down on myself and made this one happen. But there is always next year. ohhh the bitter taste of defeat.
oh and next year, i will backup my file!
Busy at work and I got behind…
Best of luck to everyone else keeping at it! See you next year!
Am going to sit down and get back into it now. I won’t try and catch up, just will do my best to fulfill today’s quota :-). I have already written over 5,000 words anyway, so its going OK.
