I have a fancy to host 1930s-style bridge parties, so learning the game is a bit of a must!
People doing this are also doing these things:

Got a call last night, there is room in the Saturday class, so the husband and I signed up. We start in two weeks with lessons!
Pretty easy.
We practiced bidding and read up on all the rules for a couple of hours last night. He is as crazy about getting enthusiastic about strange things as I am, lol!
I don’t think it will be as easy as it looks. I can see how Bridge could get quite intricate. Should be fun. Maybe we will make some friends. People keep saying, why do you want to do that? Bridge is for old people!! LOL.
Called about lessons today. Waiting for a call back to see if there is room in classes starting next Sat. Husband is going with. Yay!
I bought some software called Bridge Baron, and worked at it for awhile, but it’s very complex and I began to get bored doing these exercises by myself, so I took a break, and it’s been a long time now. Once I learn the basics I can hopefully find a group that will teach me from there.
I’ve been wanting to learn bridge for awhile. I found this great website, downloaded the software and started learning the basics and then spring came along and then summer and sitting around playing bridge just didn’t seem that interesting. But I still want to learn it. I deleted the website and can’t remember the name of it but it was pretty easy to use. Now it is winter again and learning to play bridge sounds a lot better than sitting around watching the crappy TV.
i’ve always wanted to learn to play bridge. recently, i found a great old 1930s “autobridge ‘teach yourself bridge’” set at a thrift store, ninety-nine cents, complete. i’m going to work at it a little each day until i can understand it.
i’ve always enjoyed playing cards; i’m a gin rummy demon, but also enjoy spades, hearts, euchre, and a game that i’ve heard variously called ‘mau-mau’ and ‘screw your neighbor’ and ‘last card.’ my dad and i used to play cribbage everytime we went camping together, but that’s been a while.
the trouble usually seems to be that it’s hard to find people to play with. if i can learn to play bridge well enough, there are clubs in the city for people who like to get together and play on weekends.
