How I did it: I used to use BirthdayAlarm.com to keep a note of birthdays. Now, I simply write them down at the back of my address book.Another good idea is to store them on your email account's calendar. Read how I did it…

How I did it: Remembering is of course the biggest problem. I use google calendars all the time and I set a new calendar called Birthdays. I then asked them to email me one week before. I then go to an e card website. I like this one as it can help to raise funds for environment groups and I choose a card for everyone for the year. So, every time I get reminded, I just go to the website and then write a birthday greeting! Read how I did it…

Started adding known birthdays to iPhone contacts. Hmmm…I don’t think contacts will give a reminder. Probably need to add them to calendar. Contacts will be good for record-keeping.
Gift to niece in Providence, plus 1 for her little sis because we missed hers…
Gift to neph in Phoenix, plus 1 for his little sis because we missed hers…
Luckily the little sisters are too little to get properly offended, or to expect a gift from us in the first place, since we see them so seldom.
Gifts to another neph in Phoenix, to FIL, and to a SIL (actually a Sept. 1 birthday)...all on time! Go team!
He’s so hard to shop for because he’s rich :)
I got him season 1 of Mad Men on Blu-Ray. I’m pretty sure he’d like it, pretty sure he’s never seen it, but if I’m wrong he can always send it back to Amazon! It’ll be a couple days late, but that’s all :)

Now that I am settled in my new home I will be on track with my birthday list!
1. Found my list…
2. now I will add some and remove some!
3. Make a master
4. Start with July’s
Sending ecards are so impersonal and don’t show you really made a effort to remember. It’s like “Oh Shit!, I forgot, so I better send something since I was so lazy to run out to the card shop” Most people spend countless hours in front of a tv or on the internet. I prefer to mail them because it is a nice surprise to get something other a statement saying your owe someone.

I have been recording this for two years now—long enough that it is totally a habit :) and that was the purpose of putting “Remember Birthdays” on my list in the first place.
It’s ready to come off the list now. I do it automatically. The bonus is that people consider me a really thoughtful friend and are always happy to see me. The only drawback is that everyone knows I remember their birthdays and now they expect some response from me. It’s a lot of pressure, but I can handle it. XD
My brother’s daughter is turning 16, so I got her the 16 Candles poster she wanted at Thanksmas and didn’t get, and also a poster for Bones, which she had also wanted. I hope she doesn’t already have them by now…but if she does, I’m sure she can figure out how to return them for something else, she’s a clever girl :)
My wife and I have no children of our own, but we do have 15 nieces and nephews, and we love them all. Lots to remember. My wife does most of the legwork on this, I must admit, even though most of the kids are on my side of the family. Something I can improve on.
We buy gifts for my friend L’s kids, and we got a card + a gift card off to N. in time this week. I also sent my niece who’s turning I think 13 a hoodie from Delia’s, nicely wrapped and everything, with a hoops&yoyo sound card…it’ll get there on the day or a day early.
My friend S. has a birthday on Sunday, so I think I’m going to give her her gift at work on Monday. I figure 1 day late is close enough to call it on time.
