How to start a cooking club
How I did it: It started with an evening out with a couple that we rarely saw but loved to hang out with. During dinner, we realized how much we all loved food and thought of starting a "Supper Club". Our friends invited a couple and we invited another couple to be part of the group and our Supper Club was underway. We've been having dinner club on a monthly basis for the last 3 years. Sometimes it gets pushed to every other month but it's been so much fun. We've become great friends with everyone. We also made sure that the couples invited had children of similar ages so they could have their own play time/ supper club.
Lessons & tips:
- Find friends who like to or really want to cook. These should be friends that you want to hang out with or would like to see more often.
- We had two options for someone hosting Supper Club: the host could cook the entire meal or they could farm out recipes to each family and make it more of a potluck. so far, everyone has chosen to make the entire dinner themselves.
- We started hiring a high school babysitter to keep an eye on the kids while the adults enjoyed dinner.

I am from the Sandusky,Ohio area and would like to start a cooking club, if anyone is intrested please let me know
My friends and I had a such a great time on Christmas Eve – researching recipes, planning the menu, preparing the food…and then eating it all with delicious wine to go with it, that I want to organize a monthly (or so) dinner with the 3 of us and our significant others where we alternate hosts and courses and pair wines.
I just moved to the Seattle area and thought I should use the resources that are offered here. I thought “wow, I would love to create a cooking club!” A place to make great meals and make new friends, who love food as much as I do! This would be no ordinary cooking club. Everyone’s invited – children included! We could have like crafts or the kids could help with the meal, too! The club would not have a specific place, everyone would have to willing to open their home. What do you think? Would you like to join me in this delicious journey?
I”m giving up fro now. I don’t have that many friends. And half of them either have different schedules than me, or live far away. The other half are young (21-22) and aren’t really into cooking much. So maybe in a couple years. When people have kids and want to have a nice meal away from the kids.
I think it would be cool to get together with a small group of friends and cook a lovely yummy meal and talk and giggle. And try new foods, from all around the world.
but atleast I have a group of people who all agree not to eat out and to cook for each other instead.
I have tried in another place that I worked to get every lady to cook one meal on Sunday that would feed the whole group. There were 5 of us, and if each of us brought something, then we would have lunches for the whole week. I like the idea.
And doesnt it just make eating that much more satisfying when it is something you’ve cooked yourself with your own two hands and a few good friends and some good wine or beer? I have friends who love wine and beer, but too bad I dont have any friends who like to cook. Anyone who likes to cook around Seattle, want a new friend?
