As my final semester quickly approaches, I just registered for my final term. The next step is the final tuition bill – thankfully it is before tuition will jump again in my state. Hurray! It’s in sight!
How I did it: I talked to my advisor to plan what courses to take. I asked other students what professors they liked and which ones to avoid. One professor suggested getting a job as a lower level of what my degree would be in to get my foot in the door. This way I could work my way up and get practical experience to balance the sometimes overly theoretical class work. I took 1 or 2 classes each semester for about 5 years. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Shear hard work, dedication and a lot of answered prayers from God.I am a single mother with two children, I was devistated when my husband left me the day I brought my daughter home from the hospital. I was broken, hollow and lost. I did not know what to do, so I prayed alot...I met a social worker who was very good to me and inspired me. I decided to go back and get a Masters degree to help people go though what I… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I applied, signed up for courses, and got the work done :) It is certainly do-able as long as you are willing to put in the time and hard work! You'll learn a lot, meet wonderful and intelligent people, and feel accomplished! Read how I did it…
How I did it: lots of reading and studying! i researched what schools were the best and visited the campus and really liked where i went. i had to move far from home but i feel really glad that i finished my degree! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I did this with a lot of determination and sacrifice! There were times I wanted to feel sorry for myself but that's when I would say "You know what, self? I chose to do this and I'm not going to complain." Read how I did it…

Hmmm…. What’s that weird feeling? Could it be optimism?
Talked to the Program Director at my potential new uni. Depending on whether / how much advanced standing I get on my previous courses, she says I can grad in three to five courses plus a mini-thesis.
That’s better than I thought!
Most importantly, the school seems ready to accommodate and generally student-oriented.

I am still exploring whether it makes sense to switch schools/programs. Since my last entry, I’ve received a transcript from my former school.
I have also set up an appointment so will be traipsing about on campus again soon. In fact, in early June, I’ll be meeting with the Program Director at a potential new university. Hope there is something that works out!
dragonfly35 feels a lot of introspection and determination is finally paying off!
I’ve finished the first year of the two-year program. I think the second year is going to fly by! I’m excited to be done and to see where this takes me.

Well, I screwed up a bit, but am officially done with the requirements for my ninth class. I may not end up with the grade I want, but it’ll be good enough. I’m just glad I caught my mistake before the term ended, so that I at least gave myself the chance to make up for it, even if it won’t count for anything.
Nine classes done; five to go. Bring it on!

Tonight I stayed up late to finish off my paper for my eighth class. That’s right, I’m up to 8/14 completed—not bad!! :)

I finished my first of the three classes I took this term. That puts me at my half-way mark: seven out of fourteen classes completed! I feel relieved to be done, and am now more eager than ever to finish my other courses. I might finish one tonight if the motivation holds up.

Seriously considering switching programs… Which is probably something I should have examined as a possibility sooner! Anyway, I’ve requested a copy of my transcript from my former university as a first step to potentially transferring to a new school.
I have three more classes to take and my university always throws some stupid roadblock. I had trouble registering for classes which means I have to go in person and find out what the problem is…also, they kept me from taking classes last semester because I didn’t have a measles shot since 1977- I took care of it- too late for classes and now it seems I’ll never achieve this goal because I’m out of the loop.
