My family (my parents and I) moved to another country from Korea 15 years ago when I was 10. Since then, only I have gone back to my native country once (in 2000) and visited my relatives. My mom is in contact with her side of family by telephone but my dad lost contact with his. There are no family problems, but I think my parents, esp. my dad, are afraid of missing them or regretting their choice of coming here.
I miss my uncle, who used to spoil me pretty bad when I was little and now he has 2 teenagers, I miss my cousin from my dad’s side who sent a letter to my school and my teacher read it in front of the whole class and I felt so cool and loved, I miss my granma(the only one left from my set of grands) and wish I could squeeze her hand and look at her eyes and make her understand that I love her.
I know I could go anytime and they’d welcome me, but I feel such a stranger because of all these years and I don’t even speak Korean well now.
