Wake up calls 12 months ago

through my voicemail help so much. I don’t know why there’s such a big difference between that and my alarm clock, but there is. Maybe because it makes me somehow think that someone might be calling me and needing something early so I need to get up and get moving. Regardless of the reason, it seems to be working. I’m getting up at 6 am! I’d love to get myself so used to this that I don’t even need an alarm clock or call…but this is a good start!

    Today 12 months ago

I did it. The wake up call helped bounce me out of bed. It feels really good to accomplish this today.

    Well, 12 months ago

I have been horrible with this goal. I’ve set a wake up call for myself starting tomorrow morning. Hopefully this will help fix my morning routine.

    Well…6:30 a.m.

Had a hard time falling asleep last night, which is not the norm for me. Still, I had enough time to take my dog for a short walk before work.

    Excited 15 months ago

I’m actually excited about this goal now that it seems like something more achievable! I can do this! :)

Changing my goal to 6 a.m. 15 months ago

I believe this makes more sense for me and will allow me to focus on being more consistent with my wake up time. Somehow 5 a.m. has been a bit of a stretch and honestly, didn’t seem very reasonable.

    Motivation 16 months ago

Well, I’ve gotten much better about getting to bed earlier (10:00) and I thought that would help me with this goal. However, I really feel that in order to successfully accomplish this goal I need to have at least one goal in mind to motivate me when I get up in the morning. Obviously, a goal like “go to work” is a given (and to be honest, not very inspiring). So focusing on WHY I’d like to get up early in the morning:

    1) To spend time studying and understanding my relationship with God.
    2) To exercise (I have a half marathon coming up that I need to better prepare for).
    3) To bond with my dog (we can exercise together).
    4) To feel organized and calm when I walk out the door, giving the rest of the day a great start.
    5) To fit in a few smaller tasks (cleaning, special holiday cards) in the morning while I have more energy.

There, that should do it for now. Maybe I will post this by my bed…

    Today 16 months ago

    Got up at 5:30 a.m.

Better, but not 5 a.m. Still, I went for a mile walk with my dog, came back and read the lesson. I didn’t feel as rushed, made it to work much earlier and am feeling more organized. Yea!

I’ll try for 5 a.m. again tomorrow. I’m definitely feeling more motivated.

Yesterday and today... 16 months ago

Yesterday I woke about around 5:30 a.m. and took Iggy for a longer walk. Still not 5 a.m., but closer. Also, didn’t make time for the Bible lesson. :( On the other hand, getting up slightly earlier was a good start to the week.

Today I decided we both needed sleep more so we didn’t get up until about 6:15. Ugh. Even though we went to bed by 10 p.m.? What’s the problem? I’ve gotta get moving. I need a GOOD routine.
