stop sucking my thumb

so i googled stop thumbsucking because i have braces and though my teeth are getting straight, the thumbsucking is making it painfully slow and stopping the movement all together. i thought this website would be great because people would share tips… but all everyone is doing is complaining about their problem! maybe we should all help each other out instead of whining about something that we all are struggling with… just a thought.

I have been doing this for years and can’t seem to stop. I havnt tried to stop in a long time so I fogure I should give it another try….. Next week.

im 19 years old and still suck my thumb and my grandmother and mother still do it!! i hate smiling and laughing cause i don’t want my teeth to show. i have a really bad overbite and crooked teeth! and i want to feel more secure about myself and be able to smile. i had braces for almost 6 years and they did nothing cause i KEPT sucking my thumb!

I stopped for a year when I was 14, but then my mother became sick so I started again due to the stress.

Now I’m 21. If I don’t suck my thumb then I can’t sleep, but it’s a disgusting habit that messes up your teeth.
But I’ve had an epiphany recently…

Someone very close to me is struggling with a drug problem, and when I put my own “addiction” into perspective, I realize that what if this person can quit their harmful habits, then what the hell am I bitching about?

Kicking the thumb has got to be easier than heroin.

i broke my arm so could not do this for about 4 weeks then once it was beginning to heal i was automatically doing it again. i am far too old for this i need to stop.

Well Im 23 and yes its very sad I still suck my thumb nobody ridicule me however its not a good thing. I have two children who dont do it and I refuse to let them but on the other hand I still do it myself I know its very silly!

i tried, and tried, this week i stoped for 3 1/2 days. i couldnt take it anymore! i hate this thumb. IM 13, I GOTTA STOP!
i put nail polish, didnt work
i put a glove, turned out i was sucking on the glove too
i even tried the cut trick, IT NEVER WORKS!

Its a dirty habit. I am far too old to be still sucking my thumb and don’t do it as often but every once in a while I find myself shoving it in my mouth. I am sure there are psychological reasons for it but I want it out like the garbage.
