Parthon has completed a two week raw diet! :)

I did it! 1 week ago

I said I was going to go raw for a month, but I decided on two weeks. I managed to make it the whole two weeks. Still now I think I’m going to go raw again, for longer, but less strict this time. 80/20 or 90/10ish.

So awesome, and one of the best things I’ve ever done.

I lost 13lbs in two weeks as well. :)

...with the raw foods ‘movement’ or ‘diet’ or whatever you’d like to call it. I’ve read so many personal accounts of people who feel and look better in every imaginable way after going raw.

    I’m gonna ease into it…by going 50% raw. I don’t want to go on a three-day potato-chip binge after starting out too “hard-core”. :-)

My brain is a busy place.

Gone, or going, or continuing to go Raw! 2 weeks ago

I went raw on saturday, woohoo!

The energy boost has been excellent, the food is fresh and yummy, I feel really alive.

The only downside is the cravings and the detox.

I play to stick it out for at least a month, then see where to go from there.

    This is really interesting.
I never really knew about 100% raw diets.

I was vegetarian for a little over a year, up until a few months ago, and vegan for a few months within that year.

    Never felt better.

I started eating meat again a few months ago… curiosity. I still refuse to drink milk.
Never will again, no matter how much meat I eat.
Eww, all I see is a big glass of pus.

    : F

Anyway my feel-bad feelings are starting to come back again and I’ve been thinking about going back to vegetarianism.
I’ve been experimenting with so many different things over the past two years and going raw seems like a really neat one.

I don’t know how easy it will be to adjust, though. It was pretty easy and virtually painless to go veg.

    Who knows.

I might start when I get back from Vegas in about a week and a half.

    Wisdom Teeth. 2 months ago

I was raw for three weeks and it affected a lot more than I would have thought, though in a lot more subtle ways. I woke up easily on less sleep, felt more confident in social situations..felt better in my own skin. No weight problems..I dropped maybe ten, but it was all probably water.
Then I got my wisdom teeth out last wednesday and was unable to eat much of anything at all. I started losing mega weight (i’m 5’11 and my limit was 150, which i hit after a week of going raw and then it stabilized there). i wasn’t getting enough calories to function, let alone heal.
So, I decided to ‘un-raw’ for a few days to bulk up on calories.
    Here’s what happened.
I suddenly needed hours and hours more sleep, plus naps at work. I couldn’t wake up at all, much less easily and refreshed. It’s getting worse everyday.
My mouth got a slight infection regardless of the ridiculous amount of cleaning I do in there.
Being bitchy and irritable became the norm. People at work took notice.
Going to the bathroom= Not nearly as satisfying.
And this groggy heavy-fuzzy-headed feeling returned.
Basically, I feel like complete crap.
    So, screw that.
Now that I’m more healed & can eat a lot more easily, I’m going back to raw.

mmm.... fruits and veggies! 2 months ago

I don’t want to be a serious raw freak, like making my own seed cheeses and harvesting seeds (no judgement, its just not for me!) but I want to eat mostly raw fruits and vegetables all day, everyday. I want to be like 75% raw. I can’t imagine totally giving up meat (especially chicken!) or steamed vegetables. But, i want to lose weight, have more energy, and increase my overall health and wellness. So farmers, watch out!

On Sunday night, I ate some nuts & didn’t realize that they weren’t raw. So all day Monday (today), I felt like I was in detox and had the flu. It was terrible at work; I have a very physical job. I ended up sleeping through my entire break.
At first I thought it was just normal detox, but then realized the nuts may not have been raw and it was just my body reacting to it. Eeeghd.
And I know it was detox of some sort because I did a water fast awhile ago, and this felt quite like that, but not as pronounced.
Side note: My abs are getting SWEET.

So, I’ve ended the week and I’m going to keep going. The food rocks and the bizarre recipes are really really exciting. There was a French writing about how oppression births creativity. Limiting your area of focus or setting strict boundaries on material ends with beautiful & original creations.
That’s where I’m aimed to go with this.
Ever since the first step as a Vegetarian at 13, there has been an echo of “Aren’t you limiting yourself a bit much?” from numerous people.
    I hear that a lot.
But it seems that the more I cut back my resources, the better life becomes. I’m also interested in expanding this theory into different areas of my life.

    Day Five. 3 months ago

Forget vegan junk food, I’m now addicted to medjool dates!
The first two days were harder than I thought they’d be, but this is day five and it’s feeling much easier. I’m eating more food than before raw, but I’ve read that that’s normal at first. I’ve absolutely got to get a dehydrator.. I’d love something dry, crunchy, and warm right now! Cold, wet foods and smoothies are tiring me. I seem to be more satisfied after eating things that I’ve made rather than pre-made goods, which is cool.
Something weird happened with my sinuses yesterday. I took a nap after yoga and when I woke up, my nose was super stuffy. I sat up and suddenly had a bunch of drainage! It was crazy.
On the downside, I’m craving something really vague and have no idea what it is. And the texture of soft bread would be nice. Probably just breaking cooked food habits.

I became a Vegetarian around four years ago, Vegan two years ago, and have been seriously dabbling in Raw foods for the past six months.

My body started rejecting cooked foods last week after I went 95% raw for a week or two, but then had two big cooked dinners in a row. Both came right back up. It’s making the transition much easier, but fruits and veggies aren’t heavy enough for me yet, so I’m going to pick up some raw nuts or something on my way up to donate blood today.
