I played online tonight. I think the robot cheats but even if he doesn’t I really suck at this. Discouraging given that I was in a bad mood to begin with!

Has a Scrabble application.

So I just discovered a SCRABBLE MEETUP GROUP! Yessir, www.meetup.com. I plan to go whenever I’m free (not often, but still, whenever I’m free) to practice my Scrabble skills. I’m so excited.

...that you can play Scrabble online as well.

I’ve spent many an enjoyable hour, and met some nifty people from around the globe, playing Scrabble at games.com.

I don’t ever expect to be a “tournament-quality” player.

For those who want to improve their skills, numerous Web sites offer tips, tricks, and word lists (e.g., all the words containing a Q with no U). Just Google “Scrabble tips and tricks” and follow the links.

There are also several good books: search for “Scrabble” on a site like amazon.com.

Have fun!

I love Scrabble and I always force my familiy to play it together on holidays. I am a decent player, but I’m not GREAT yet, and I want to improve my strategy. Does anyone have any tips?

Not bad! 4 years ago

I am not doing badly on this. The last bunch of games I’ve scored in the 240-280 range. I’ve managed to beat Alyx a grand total of 3 times so far. I figure once I’ve managed to beat her 1/3 of the time I’ll be a worthy opponent.
