    valentine's morning 17 months ago

started at 5h30 when my sisters (who leave for the UK today after a month here) woke Raph and I up, made a flask of excellent coffee and we all headed to the cloudy but warm beach for sunrise. the water today was silvery blue with enormous waves and a gunmetal sky following last night’s thunderstorms.

then i left the girls at the beach, took Raph to school and headed to the x-x’s place where i crawled into his warm bed in my wet bikini and wished him Happy Valentine’s Day in a fairly traditional way (the bikin didn’t stay on long) before getting back to the beach for a final swim.

we’re all going for final tea and cake (well, Raph and I, the sisters, and mom and dad) before heading for the airport. i’m not looking fwd to this goodbye.

then when we get back the x-x is taking me for dinner and we’ll no doubt end the day the way we started it.

The biggest thing about human life is to be a free to decide what you wanna be and how to live you life. I want to, even it’s freaky for someone, to live on my way as long as it last.

    yes

Spent hours in tokai arboretum with Raph and his friend Aaron yesterday 20 months ago

And discovered a gorgeous produce market in the same area where we had pancakes under Oak trees.

in the arboretum the boys made bark boats and dammed up the stream and fell IN the stream (sort of on purpose) and i lay in the pine needles reading and took photos. later friends met us for coffee there.

the sun was shining for a change, the air was still and hot and the scent of heated pine was heady.

it was a great way to spend my life, for that day.

just heard that there is 21 months ago

a Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes childen’s theatre production on at the Kalk Bay Theatre this morning. As it’s going to be a rainy cold day, and is a Public Holiday here in SA (Heritage Day) I might take Raph along.

my dad came to my shop today 23 months ago

and bought rambutan and mangosteen from his plantation for me and my sister. Joon is out working so my dad and I had lunch together. After lunch we talked about many things. An hour later he left for home before I hit my busy time.

I enjoy talking to him. When we didn’t talk or see each other for a while, he would drive to my shop and we would chat about many things and sometimes, he gossiped mom! ;]

Yesterday, I spent the most of my day decorating the cover of my journal 23 months ago

and make a smaller new journal.

I was not so busy in the morning so I sat cutting pictures from old magazines. It was relaxing and it helped boost my creativity. I love days like this.

The smaller one, I will bring with me on the trip to KL adn will use it as a swapping journal with my friends.

my sister and I 23 months ago

always share our working days after the day ends. She works outside, driving around to see her customers and come back home at the end of the day, sometimes comes back the next day.

I work at home and wait for her to come back. When she is back, she will come to sit next to me and tells me about her day, her customers and her co-workers, sometimes about her boss.

We like to share points of view on many things and that makes us closer but we still leave something unshared and unsaid, the things that we are not comfortable talking about.

It’s great that now we can talk on several things becuase I work from home and we live in the same house. Before, when I worked for the company and lived away, we only talked on the phone and not as close and as often as we wanted to.

this morning the X-X and i went for a walk on fish hoek beach, 23 months ago

and had coffee before i had to start work at nine, and after dropping Raph at school.

tonight i’m lying in bed, about to watch a dvd (i love that i still have these nights to myself – been single too long to have company EVERY night) and remembering how beautiful the light was this morning.
