be creative every day

Does writing count as creativity? Fiction writing does, obviously. I feel like thoughtful (non-fiction) posts on my blog probably do too, as they get the deeper, looser part of my mind working. And sometimes blog type writing provides me with ideas/memories/quotes that I’ll use directly in my work.

I don’t think this counts, though. =P

Hmmmm. I’d better come back to this.

Today I thought about the food I am going to make for friends and family over Christmas. The list is as follows:

• Caramel Shortbread
• Mince Pies
• Trifle
• Coffee Cake
• Plain Sponge Cake
• Cookies & Biscuits
• Christmas Pudding Truffles

Now I just have to make a shopping list so I can make these items and if there is time I might make others too.

Today I drew a picture of Tinker Bell. I really like the little fairy from the Peter Pan movie, not really sure why, she just appeals to me. I just used pencil and plain white paper, but it turned out quite nicely. I think I will just keep all my artwork in a portfolio and just see if I can get better. I really enjoy drawing and sketching.

Everyday my daughter causes me to be creative. She always causes some new problem or wants to play some new game. There is no way to not need and use some new kind of creativity daily. And not only through her but I knit and have found amazing creativity through that as well.

I’m going to go ahead and consider this goal as done but as one I’m also going to continue working on. I love trying/learning new things so this goal was pretty simple for me. From crafty to imaginative…I’d say that I’ve accomplished this goal. Yay! :-)

I read somewhere the key to being creative is that you have to do something completely original, something that’s never been done before in a certain way.

Today I said to my friends, “Our curse words have lost their punch. Let’s invent new ones.” And we did. Funny stuff. I would say what they were but youngin’s look at this site. ;)

I paint in oils and have started doing some collage and altered art as a way to play. It relaxes me and gives me a chance to experiement. I’d like to try to do at least one creative thing a day.
